Cindy, I don't know much about him, either. (Atleast where his parents & siblings are concerned.). I do know that he was born around 1815, married Charlotte Hardie (daughter of Robert & Martha Hardie from N.C.) & was apparently well-to-do as his estate was bonded for around $8000.00 & including some slaves. He died in 1854, followed shortly thereafter by his wife. I found where he had bought some land in Wilkinson Co. from a Benjamin P. Vinson in 1853. He is possibly the son of a Levin Vinson of Wilkinson Co. , whose estate documents I also found, dated 1831 showing the division of slaves to James W. Vinson, Jane Vinson, & Nelly Vinson (who was also the executor of the estate.) One slave that was given to Jane was a boy named Charles. One of the slaves sold as part of Wiley's estate in 1854 was a man named Charles, 35 yrs. old. Have you heard any of this before? Let me know. Keith Stevens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cin" <[email protected]> To: "DellEPro Mail Server" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, May 07, 2003 12:14 PM Subject: Re: [GAWILKIN-L] VINSON-WRIGHT-SIMS - AL & GA > Dear dkstevens, > > All I know is that he was born in Wilkinson.
