Below is a website I almost literally stumbled onto today while doing some civil war research .... It's not alot of records, but I found TWO that I know are related to my direct line ancestors!! One is HEZEKIAH BUSSEY of Muscogee/Talbot Co.GA, and another is Samuel Fleming's widow Eliza's pension appl. records! These records are normally NOT found online, but mainly at the NARA (archives in DC)... so this was a great 'find'! If you have GA ancestors in the Civil War, it's worth a quick look. Just click below, and then when you get to the page, you will see Pension Records down the left side of page, and several diff. GA county names listed. Click on the County name and view the names that are there. And don't worry if the counties aren't YOUR ANCESTOR'S COUNTIES - Look anyway! If I hadn't looked, I would have missed some!! (There aren't that many, so it doesnt take that long to scan thru the names alphabetically). (I will be teaching a class soon on CIVIL WAR RECORDS and! have learned alot about civil war records, which I'll be sharing *soon* .... there's alot of info available on civil war ancestors, Union & Confederate (mine are all confed., all from GA of course), much is online, but not all; it's kinda complicated how to find the records, but I'll try to post as much as I can on it soon.
