Allen, who was known as Henry Allen, Pruett/Pruitt/Prewitt. (The spelling is according to the person who did the census each year). I know he was listed in the 1850 Census as Allen Pruit, age 11 and as Allen Pruitt in the 1860 Census and was listed with the Hyman Mercer (Messer as in 1860) family. He was born in 1839 and was married to Mary Jane Mercer, daughter of Hyman Mercer. In the 1880 Census, Mary Jane is listed as a widow and Head of Household and her last name was spelled Prewitt.. Any information on Henry Allen or Allen Pruett/Pruitt/Prewitt, as to when he and Mary Jane were married and what happened to him. I have been told he was injured in the Civil War, but there's the mystery, what happened afterwards. Thank you!
