Hi All: Was just thinking about my response and Gervaise response to the person researching HUGHES in Wilkinson Co. It made me think of the way I like to think of doing genealogical research....especially online: I think of an email list, for instance, as a big gathering of people from the same place *or* who have ancestors from that place... but that all of us, you and me, and the hundreds of us who are on the GAWilkin-L email list here, we are all in a big room or "place" all together ... like a big FAMILY REUNION HALL, let's say! And even though it's *electronically* and maybe we aren't actually *seeing* each other, we ARE seeing each other's words... so think of ourselves as being at a big WILKINSON CO.GA REUNION, where many of us are RELATED thru different family lines, but we don't know it yet! Some of us DO know each other, and how we are related, and that's wonderful! Some of us are still trying to find kin here! But (at this big REUNION), do we want to stand around all alone in a corner, not talking to anyone, or saying who our ancestors were, or do we want to WEAR OUR NAME TAGS ON OUR SHIRTS SO ALL CAN SEE WHO WE ARE, and also hold up a big sign SHOWING OUR ANCESTORS NAMES so others can see who our ancestors were? We dont want to keep it to ourselves, but share it with others so we can make some connections. And if someone is new to the Reunion, and they ask if anyone is related to them ----- well, the only way we'd know if we are or aren't, is if the person tells us as much about their ancestors as they can, and THEN we would know, and could tell them! So, have fun at the WILKINSON CO. REUNION we have here, and let's keep talking and visiting and having fun! And don't forget to hold up your LIST OF ANCESTOR NAMES now and then for all who are here and new folks who wander in and might be shy!
