    3. Sorry, I dont know or have any HUGHES in Wilkinson Co., although I'm related to MANY families there. What do you KNOW about your HUGHES family there?? I'll be glad to give you some tips/suggestions.... JOHN HUGHES, right? What CENSUS' have you found him on?? Check all the census' when he may have lived there, esp. the ones from 1850 and on, as those will show ALL FAMILY MEMBERS' names, ages, places of birth, parents' birthplaces, etc. Check the WILKINSON CO. websites for info available. Would he have been in Civil War? Check those records too. Can be checked on line...(if I havent sent the url for the site, someone remind me and I will). Check the following sites: - www.genforum.com (for HUGHES surname list) - www.worldconnect.rootsweb.com (zillions of genealogies here) - www.familysearch.org (the LDS family history website- a Must!)... click on SEARCH and then type in your known name and whatever info you have, but esp. NAME and PLACE. Check under 'IGI' and 'ANCESTRAL FILE'. (and on familysearch.org site, also be sure to check "FHLC" (Fam. Hist. Lib. Cat.) for your surnames (esp. if UNCOMMON SURNAMES), and for the Locality, and see what Salt Lake City FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY has available on them, and keep in mind that whatever SLC FHL has, that the thousands of FAMILY HISTORY CENTERS nationwide and worldwide can order much of what SLC has, to be sent to the local FHC nearest you for viewing. Small charge, $3.75 per film, etc., and they keep it there for you to look at for abt 5 weeks.) These are just for starters! Do you know any of the allied names (married into fmaily names, or close relatives) to the HUGHES family?? Keep posting posting posting your info everywhere!!! And be sure to include as much info as you can, incl. NAMES OF PARENTS, CHILDREN, DATES, PLACES, etc etc. GOOD LUCK! *TINA/CA* ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 20, 2003 3:20 PM Subject: Wilkinson County / Hughes-Hughs- > Can anyone help me with Hughes/Hughs families in early Wilkinson > County, Ga.? 3. I have one book each on Wilkinson, Twiggs, and Pulaski County GA Censuses (1820-1880). IF you know any first names, let me know as there are 29 pages in Wilkinson on which HUGHS are listed. I have not researched them thoroughly in Wilkinson County. Yet, I have researched the Hugh/Hughes in Twiggs County, which was made from Wilkinson.. If you can give me more information, as Tina suggested, I hope I might can help you. Haywood Hughs/Hughes( b. 1818) of Twiggs County, GA married into my WYNN family of Pulaski, County, GA. Elmina Coley married first time to John A. Wynn and second time to Haywood Hughes of Twiggs County, GA. The Hughes were very prominent early settlers in Twiggs County.
