LOOKING AT MY WYNN INFO REMINDS ME WHY I HAD NOT LOOKED AT IT IN A WHILE IT IS A MIND BOGGLER , LOL KEITH
I FOUND A NOTE ON THE OBIT OF BRASWELL WYNN WHICH INDICATES THAT , WILLIAM WYNN HAD 20 CHILDREN WITH 1ST WIFE, AND 3 WITH SECOND WIFE . THE LOG CABIN THAT WILLIAM WYNN AND SUSUAN HINSON RAISED THEIR CHILDREN IS STILL STANDING IN WILKINSON COUNTY. KEITH
** HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY to all, and again, another special THANK YOU and God bless you, to all those who are serving or have served in past years, including our departed parents, grandparents and ancestors.** Hope all have a safe and fun Memorial Day, and take a moment to remember those who sacrificed so much for their country. My farthest back military veteran ancestors, *before* this country was the *USA*, were my 6th great-grandfathers, (Revolutionary War ancestors: Mitchell Watkins of NC, David Wallace of NC, Hezekiah Bussey of SC, Thomas Hardeman of VA, John Keen of NC, John Moore of NC, John Holliman of NC; Civil War ancestors: Willis Keen of GA (my dad's grandfather, died during CW), James Stembridge of GA (my mom's ancestor), my husband Jim and his father and many of Jim's ancestors, Jim's Uncle Billy in VA, and many others; and both my dad's, Emory & Bill who served in WW II in Air Force & Navy, and my brother Chris, and many friends who served in Viet Nam. Their sacrifice and service to this great country are appreciated, and as I place the American flag outside my cabin every morning, especially on this memorial day, I think of them all and how this country was formed and has grown. I for one am very proud to fly the American flag. Thanks to all who have served, it is appreciated by so many, whether they tell you or not :) God bless you, Tina PS As an *afterthought*, if anyone reading this doesnt already know how, and would like to find out who their (military) ancestors were, or if they had an ancestor in the military (or not), get in touch and I'll be happy to help you! :)

Thanks Eileen July 10 1828 Baltimore Patriot A family. - in the pine woods of Wilkinson county, a couple (both natives of Burke county,) were, in 1801, married-the gentleman, a bachelor, forty years of age. Since that, time they have lived together in a state of uninterrupted happiness, which has been crowned by the birth of twenty one children, ten sons and eleven daughters; all alive and healthy at the presant time. Tina, I have a Cynthia McGowan b.c. 1840 who married Solomon P. Thompson (1834-1909), son of James Russell Thompson and Martha (Patsy) Wynn Thompson, but I don't have a Cynthia McGowan married to William Wynn. I may have missed something. Cynthia McGowan (b. Abt 1840) was the daughter of Jimpsey McGowan and Jane (maiden name unknown) and she married Solomon Thompson in 1857, when she was about 17 years old. Since Susannah Hinson didn't die until 1861, it is highly unlikely that Cynthia McGowan was ever married to William "Billy" Wynn. Solomon Thompson didn't die until 1909, and, I believe, outlived Cynthia by several years, and as far as I know they were married throughout. I've only heard of William Wynn having two wives, Susannah "Susan" Hinson and Letha Stevens Thigpen (by whom he had two additional children). Incidentially, Susannnah "Susan" Hinson Wynn's obit listed her as the mother of 20 children. I think I had heard Cynthia was mar. to Wm. in between. But I have no > evidence. Ann, I was thinking the same thing - I thought I'd seen some accounts that they had 23 children, however? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Toler" <atoler@earthlink.net> To: <GAWILKIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 29, 2005 2:08 PM Subject: Re: [GAWILKIN-L] 21 CHILDREN That would probably be the family of William "Billy" Wynn, Jr. and his wife Susannah "Susan" Henson Wynn (my 3rd great grandparents through their daughter Martha Ann "Patsy" Wynn, b. 1813). They were natives of Burke County, GA, married there in 1811 (not 1801) and are said to have had 21 children, although I don't know if anyone has ever been able to account for them all. I have accounted for 18 of their children, 11 girls and 7 boys (born between 1812 and 1839). I wonder if the newspaper dates here are a little off (is this from the original article or a transcription?) and this is indeed the same family. It would seem almost too close to be coincidence. > > I found the following news article. WM. WYNN & SUSAN HINSON.... These are supposedly my ancestors also... I dont know if it's the same couple mentioned in the article ... I'd always seen/heard that WM. WYNN was b. 1790 - no? If so, I doubt he mar. in 1901? I can't add anything to the # of children, or names, as I hve learned most about that from others, prob. many on this list :) BUT, MY QUESTION has been for years now: WHO IS THIS WILLIAM WYNN to my CELIA WYNN who mar. RICHARD WATKINS of Wash.Co.GA (s/o R.S. MITCHELL WATKINS,sr. of EDGEC. CO., NC) ?? For years I had been told or read that WM. & SUSAN WYNN were the PARENTS of my CELIA. But Celia is more likely to be a SISTER or close kin/cousin to WM., as she was born...right now I forget, but I believe she was born about 1801 or 1803... too old to be DAUGHTER of WM. & SUSAN! I know she is closely related, and would LOVE to know how... is she his sister?? Cousin?? Does anyone know of my CELIA WYNN who mar. RICHARD WATKINS? They res. WILKINSON CO.GA. My allied lines to this family are: KEEN/KINGERY/SCOTT/SANDERS, etc. (I know GERVAISE has been a real expert on this family of WYNN, not sure if she's still on the list... are you here, Gervaise? Can you add anything to this discussion?) We can always go back to the ARCHIVES, if needed, to see what others have posted...buthopefully that won't be necessary :) HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, AND THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED IN THE MILITARY OVER THE GENERATIONS!
