    1. Re: [GAWILKIN-L] Wynn
    2. Ann Toler
    3. Martha "Patsy" Wynn Thompson, (b. Sept 14, 1913 - d. Aug. 27, 1904), was my great-great grandmother, and I never heard any talk of her being a twin (almost always a hot topic of generational lore if such was the case). I suppose it is possible, but I think it unlikely that she and Tabitha were twins. In fact, I too doubt that Tabitha was a the daughter of William and Susan Hinson Wynn. Wilkinson County historian Joseph Maddox (never an infallible source) says Tabitha was the daughter of William and Susan Hinson Wynn, but I think it unlikely, although Tabitha is certainly related to them, by marriage, blood, or both. Here's what I know about Tabitha Wynn. She married John Henry Lord (son of John and Nancy Minton Lord - my g-g-g maternal grandparents) on Dec. 9, 1838. She was born about 1813 (the 1850 census lists her age as 37, in 1860 she's listed as 47, and as 56 in 1870), and died between 1870 and 1880, as John Henry Lord is listed as a widower in the 1880 census. Tabitha probably already had two children when she married John Henry Lord, as 15 year old girl, ³Georgiann Wynne,² is listed as a member of John and Tabaitha¹s household in the 1850 census. Further, the 1840 census, two years after John and Tabitha married, lists the household of John H. Lord as consisting of one male 20 to 30 (John H.), one female to 5 (Georgiann Wynn), one female 5 to 10 (?), and one female 20 to 30 (Tabitha). I think it quite possible that Tabitha was a widow who had previously been married to a Wynn. Tabitha¹s maiden name is unknown, but it is speculated by some that it may also have been Wynn. (The gene pool was small and back then people thought nothing of marrying their close cousins.) Some researchers think she was the daughter of Francis and Tabitha Wynn of SC and Burke County, GA. A Francis Wynn, wife Tabitha, was granted parcels of land in Burke County, GA in 1766 and 1767, where he settled and raised a family. They are reported to have had a daughter named Tabitha, but she would have been born abt. 1780. Too old for our Tabitha, but possibly closely related. Another possibility, of course, is that Tabitha had two children out of wedlock before marrying John Henry Lord. She and In any case, I don't include her on my list of the children of William and Susan Hinson Wynn, but I have an open mind about it. For the record, the following is my list of the children of William and Susan Hinson Wynn. I welcome any comments, corrections, suggestions, etc. (It'd for sure be a lot easier to figure out if they hadn't married their cousins so often and all given their kids the same names!!) William H. Wynn - b. about 1812, d. about 1852 - No record of any marriage Martha "Patsy" Wynn - b. Sept. 14, 1813, d. Aug. 27, 1904 - Married James Russell Thompson Annie (Ann) Wynn - b. abt 1815 - married Winnifred Bailey Josiah Wynn - b. about 1816 - m. Louisa Freeman Mary Elizabeth Pauline "Polly" Wynn - b. Dec. 26, 1821, d. Dec. 1, 1907 - Married Oliver Harmon Bailey Clarissa Teresa "Rittie" Wynn - b. about 1822 - Married Obediah Wynn (Relationship unknown, probably a cousin) Obediah Wynn - b. abt 1825 - Married Nancy Crumbley Lucinda "Cynthia" Wynn - b. Oct 11, 1828, d. June 29, 1908 - Married John E. Duncan Bernita Wynn - b. abt 1831, d. abt. 1863 - Married Elbert Davis Sousannah "Susan" Wynn - b. about 1834 - Married William W. Miller Elizabeth "Betsy" Wynn - b. about 1837 - Married Lewis Andrew Wynn (relationship unknown, probably another cousin) Louisa Wynn - b. about 1839 - Married George Wright Braswell Wynn - b. Dec. 13, 1838, d. Nov. 23, 1926 - Married Asenath Kittles There are a couple of other names I've come across that "might" be children of William and Susan Hinson Wynn, and I include them below for consideration: Adeline Wynn - A daughter according to Joe Maddox. I find no other record of her. Burrell G. Wynn - In the 1840 census a Burrell G. Wynn, age 20 to 30, is living in with his young wife (age 15 to 20) in a household adjacent to William and Susan Wynn and known son Josiah Wynn. Andrew Wynn - b. about 1818. Andrew Wynn, age 32, is listed as a member of the household of William and Susan Wynn in 1850., One wonders if this is a son, or could it be the Lewis Andrew Wynn, son of John Wynn (possible brother to William), who later married William and Susan Wynn¹s daughter Elizabeth ³Betsy² Wynn (who was 13 in 1850)? 2. I am interested in this Mary "Polly" Wynn who ended up in Bulloch Co GA, buried at Upper Mill Creek Church. Several of my ancestors had origins in Wilkinson County and moved to Bulloch Co sometime in the 1880s. They were all associated with Upper Mill Creek Church in Bulloch Co. My gggrandmother Milllie Ann Greene Cannon, a Civil War widow, moved there with 4 of her grown children. (Her granddaughter Bessie Cannon married a Thomas Oscar Wynn.) My gggrandfather Jesse Metts and his wife and children also moved from Wilkinson to Bulloch at the same time as did apparently a family of Kingery's. I would like to hear from anyone with any information on why these folks all seemed to move together to Bulloch County. Paul Reddick

    3. *THANK YOU* for posting all these children's names and info. It will be very helpful to many, I'm sure. Since I'm trying to place my CELIA WYNN b. 1803 m. Richard WATKINS of Wash. Co.GA, seeing all gthese names and s;pouses together in one p;lace is helpful. I KNOW my Celia is of this same family line. Probably a sister or cousin to WM. who mar. Susan Hinson. Or cousin. I see common allied lines in the family below AND with my WATKINS/WYNN/KEEN line another generation or so later in Wilkinson Co. = Bailey, Crumbley, Freeman, etc. Gervaise, you were gonna see if you had anyhthing more on my CELIA, or maybe you thought you had something, I dont recall now. 3. To pass along information I have that some of you may find useful are parts of letters written by a grandson of William Wynn, Jr. (1790-1870) and Susan Hinson Wynn. He was Samuel Braswell (S. B.) Wynn, son of Braswell Wynn and Asenath Kittles Wynn. Thomas Wynn, son of S. B. let me copy his father's letters, notes, etc. He, Thomas, also wrote a story of his life growing up in "Mingo," the Salem Church area where Wm. Wynn, Sr. (1860's-1840's) and Wm. Wynn, Jr. (1790-1870) and most all of the early Wilkinson Wynns lived. He gave me permission to share the information I got from him. My comments will be in parenthesis with my initials, "gwp." Macon, GA 2950 Emerson Circle 6/28/1962 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter, You have a sincere invitation to join us Salem Church second Sunday in July 8th, Home Coming Day. This has been every year long as I can remember (This reunion is still held yearly as of 2005...gwp) William Wynn built it. The first year he and g-mother came from Virginia, wish I knew what year it was. His old log home is there. You can see road he travel to church. We have a stone to his grave (at Salem Church..now has a marker...gwp). The only two sons buried there no mark. No mark just above where his slaves. My Grand Dad (Wm. Wynn, Jr...gwp) happens to be your great-great granddad. W.R. Wynn (Willis Reeves Wynn, son of William Wynn, Jr. and 2nd wife, Retha Stevens...gwp) and I had dates we got when Central R. R. of GA was first built. William Wynn, b. 1780's (possible, as most of us dated his birthday 1790 from Wilkinson Censuses...gwp) had twenty-three children (20 by Susan Hinson and three by 2nd wife, Retha Stevens Thigpen...gwp) He first settle in GA, Wilkinson Counth, north of Big Sandy Creek, West of the Oconee River. The wagon train road from Stephenville to Balls Ferry, all that land joing road East down Big Sandy to Ocvonee River. The State of GA gave him plot and grant 5,000 acres. (He did end of owning that many acres. I searched all grants for Wilkinson...only found one or two. We do know Wm. Wynn, Sr. was a Capt. Wm. Wynn when listed in Laurens County History. I have one record of service for a Wm. Wynn ...gwp) (THIS IS IMPORTANT...GWP) The first 15 years he Susan, his wife, left no record. Only he and wife never talk about the past, especially the first 15 years.. (The next excerpts are at the bottom of other notes, where children of Wm. Wynn, Jr. were name...gwp) 15-20 years of Billie (Wm. Wynn, Jr.....gwp) and Susan (1st wife, Susan Hinson, married 1811, Burke Cty., GA...gwp) in their new country was awful...SEVEN children was lost. Aunt Harriett (Flucker...gwp) or my Dad and no one seemed to know and no one talked.. Paul Thompson and sister and Charlie Davis have some records Family Tree. ENOUGH FOR TODAY..."hopefully more copied to you later) Gervaise Wynn Perdue

    3. CORRECTIONS FROM MY E-MAIL SENT YESTERDAY: l. Please add William Wynn, Jr. (1790-1870) to the numbered list of my "guesses" for the children of Wm. Sr. and Elizabeth Echols. I had stated that in the preceding paragraph. All of us have proof that Wm. Jr. was a son of Wm. Sr. & Elizabeth Echols. 2. In # 5, CHANGE "Mary Frances Wynn" to "SUSAN Frances Wynn." I am sorry that I don't have the time to post my data that supports my thoughts on who might have been Wm. Sr. and Elizabeth's children. Gervaise Wynn Perdue

If so, I doubt he mar. in 1901? > I can't add anything to the # of children, or names, as I hve learned most > YES, Gervaise WYNN Perdue is still alive, but not researching anymore; yet, I "wish" I had the time and energy to send out a lot of what I do have so that others could benefit from my 50 plus years of research. I have a lot of proof, a lot of "beliefs, suppositions, guesses" about the middle GA Wynn/Wynne's. After all, I should as I slept with them night and day for too many years. I promise I will "try" to give some of my info, which is fairly accurate or I pray others will take it and prove it wrong and add to it. Please keep me posted: gwperdue@cox.net I sold my home, moved to a beautiful continuing care place, which is like being on a cruise ship except it never docks!! They keep me so active, physically, mentally and socially. Yet, IF I need skilled nursing, assisted living, or dementia, there are wings of those places, which I pray I can stay in my apartment until I die. I don't have to cook, do any housework, etc....just fun, fun, which I deserve at age 79 and still active and mostly healthy. Suffice it to say in this email, that I know the William Wynn, Sr. (married Elizabeth Echols) was in Wilkinson County, GA in 1820, 1830, and must have died in 1840's. One of his sons, Wm., Jr. (1790-1870) actually had 23 children...20 by Susan Hinson and three by his second wife. One of Wm. and Reitha's children died at birth. I visited descendants of the other two, who gave me records. Now, in another email I will "try" to give names of Wm. and Susan's children that I can actually document their descendants. There were several of the 20 (or 21 as reported) who died as infants (based on a letter from a grandson, which I have). Now, and PLEASE DO NOT POST OR COPY MY SUPPOSITION, BELIEFS, GUESSES, etc. as to who "might" have been children of Wm. Wynn, Sr. and Elizabeth Echols. (not in order of birth) 1. JOHN WYNN, (1787-1860)...lived Wilkinson, Houston, Pulaski Counties and was my great-great grandfather. (His son, Lewis Andrew Wynn '1818-1893' married Wm. Wynn Jr.'s daughter,Elizabeth, his relative Wm. Wynn, Jr. is also my great-great grandfather SO I HAVE A DOUBLE DOSE OF THAT BUNCH. 2. BARTLEY WYNN, b. 1793, d. 1868, Thomas Cty., GA; m. 1823 in Wilkinson Cty., GA to Rebecca Taylor, ( d/o Burrell Taylor (b.1798,N.C. and Cassandra). I have most of their descendants until about 1980); m. (2) Gatsy Ann Elkins in 1849, Thomas Cty., GA. (I have many of their researcher's info) 3. ASHLEY WYNN, b. 29 Jan 1804 (Bible), m. (1) 1834 to Mary Polly (d. 1855); m. (2) Elizabeth Stevens in 1856. I have two pages of his original Bible, which lists all his children's birth's marriages, deaths, etc. I want to put those valuable pages in a "young" descendant who will preserve it. 4. JAMES WYNN, b. 1800, d. ca 1866) m.1821 to Winney Lassiter. (Many researchers say and possible could be from the Warren County Wynn's. I have my doubts. I have attended many of their reunions, AND like me, they don't know. 5. MARY FRANCES WYNN married Willis Brazzeal REEVES (noted in Pulaski History). An interesting thing to me is: William Wynn, Jr. (1790-1870) and his second wife, Letha Stevens Thigpen Wynn, named a son WILLIS REEVES WYNN. William Wynn, Jr. "could" have named his son after his sister's husband????????? Also, I have many records proving connections between these families and also with my other great-great grandfather, John Wynn (1787-1860). I have records from thedescendants of the two surviving children of Wm. Wynn, Jr. and Leitha. 6. CELIA WYNN m. Watkins. VERY POSSIBLE. This is Tina Peddie's ancestor. Celia can not possibly be a child of William Wynn, Jr. I believe she is a daughter of Wm. Wynn, Sr., as ages match...plus the Watkins connections, dates involved, etc. PLEASE DON'T QUOTE ME. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND TELL ME WHAT YOU FIND ABOUT THE ABOVE SUPPOSTIONS OF THE CHILDREN OF OUR EARLIEST ANCESTOR TO WILKINSON COUNTY FROM BURKE COUNTY. I also have "beliefs" before that but will not post them unless someone can help as I am really at a loss straightening out my two ancestor WYNN's who ended up in the same counties or nearby. IN ANOTHER E-MAIL, I WILL"try" TO LIST THE KNOWN CHILDREN OF WILLIAM WYNN, JR., AND BOTH OF HIS TWO WIVES. Another story about the McGowan marrying Wm. Jr. I believe that got started years ago on the Mormon lists. I pursued that and got the original records from a descendant. Most of you have your own lists of Wm. and Susan's children, but I will "try' to type a copy of letter written by a grandson. He and his cousins got together and tried to reconstruct those they remembered. Then, I tried to put that together with my primary actual records. Gervaise WYNN Perdue 5/30/05 YES about that from others, prob. many on this list :) > BUT, MY QUESTION has been for years now: > WHO IS THIS WILLIAM WYNN to my CELIA WYNN who mar.
