Surnames: Braswell, Brazell, Brassil, Brazel Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/He.2ADE/1331 Message Board Post: Hi all: By way of introduction I am the son of Edsel Orece Brazel (b. 1925 Tattnall Co. Ga), son of James Washington Brazell (b. 1882 Tattnall Co. Ga), son of Parks Alexander Brazell (b. 1855 Tattnall Co. Ga), son of James Washington Brazell (b. 1828 Screven Co. Ga), son of John Braswell (b. 1801 Screven Co. Ga). John (b.1801) was the son of James (Date of birth, death, and location unknown) & Elizabeth Braswell and (there my line currently ends.) I know that Elizabeth Braswell was declared a widow and her son John Braswell declared an orphan during the 2nd GA Land Lottery of 1807 and were granted land in Wilkinson Co. The 1820-1821 Land Lotteries appears to show them in Wilkinson Co., drawing lots for additional land in Appling Co. By the 1820's there name has changed from Braswell to Brazell. Later, John was married in Screven Co. in 1825 and moved to Tattnall Co. (which borders Appling Co.) by 1830. I am continuing to search for information about the widow Elizabeth Braswell and orphan John who most likely lived in Wilkinson county from abt 1807-1821. If anyone comes acrossany information related to them or any other Braswell's or Brazell's in Wilkinson Co early 1800's I'd love to hear from you. Thanks, John Brazel

    3. Winn, The Wilkinson County History book by Davidson confirms they were married Aug. 31, 1841, marriage was performed by William Garrot, J.P. If he married previously in Twiggs County it would be hard to come up with a record since courthouse burned in 1901 unless there is a newspaper article or bible record verifying a previous marriage.
