    3. Earl: By posting your homepage address to the Wilkinson Co. List, which it appears you did, that got it "posted" as you requested! Thanks for sending it! Since you have many Wlknsn Co. relatives, it would be a good idea for all of us to take a look and see if we have any common lines! Everyone who has a website that contains any/some WLKNSN. 2. TINA PEDDIE
    3. *HI ALL: I work/volunteer every Thurs. nite at the local FHC, and am going to get a list of resources from there, for WILKINSON CO. There shd be books (on microfiche), films, wills, taxes, etc, that can be obtained from any FHC; but I believe that MUCH of the info that will be available has probably been put into the two main Wlknsn Co. books, by Davidson & Maddox. But will get a list together, and you can see if there's anything you might want to check out. For the subscriber who asked me to talk a little about beginning to search in the FHC, I will post Beginner Info later on today......Good idea. Best to all, *TINA/CA* List Mgr.

    2. Sandra Farmer
    3. I am looking for the father of James B. and Hardy Horn, sons of Lucy and Unknown Horn. Their first definite appearance in Wilkinson Co. is in the 1850 GA census where this family was listed as Lucy, James and Hardy Hand. 1. LUCY1 was born 1806, and died Aft. 1850. Children of LUCY are: i. HARDY2 HORN, b. 1824; d. 1848, Jones Co., GA ?; m. HENRIETTA SCOTT, 18 Sep 1846, Jones Co., GA. 2. ii. JAMES B. HORN, b. 1832, Georgia; d. 02 Jul 1863, Gettysburg, Pa. Generation No. 2 2. JAMES B.2 HORN (LUCY1) was born 1832 in Georgia, and died 02 Jul 1863 in Gettysburg, Pa. He married MARY ANN Abt. 1851 in Georgia. Children of JAMES HORN and MARY are: i. JAMES3 HORN, b. 1852, Wilkinson Co., Ga; d. 10 Sep 1887; m. OPHELIA BERRY. 3. ii. DELILIAH AUGUSTANN HORN, b. 1854, Wilkinson Co., Ga; d. Sep 1905. iii. ELIJAH HORN, b. 1856, Wilkinson Co., Ga. iv. Children of DELILIAH AUGUSTANN HORN are: i. DORA4 HORNE, b. Abt. 1875, Wilkinson Co., Ga; m. ALDMON FAULK. ii. MARY LELIA HORNE, b. Oct 1876; d. 1891. iii. JULIA PEARL HORNE, b. 30 Jun 1878; d. 30 Sep 1903. 4. iv. JAMES ELIJAH HORNE, b. 01 Jul 1888, Wilkinson Co., Ga; d. 09 Mar 1952, Fitzgerald, GA. v. WILLIAM COLEMAN HORNE, b. 21 Oct 1891, Danville, Twiggs Co., GA; d. 16 Jun 1963, Mesa, AZ; m. ANNIE MISSOURI HOOD, 21 Nov 1911. Generation No. 4 4. JAMES ELIJAH4 HORNE (DELILIAH AUGUSTANN3 HORN, JAMES B.2, LUCY1) was born 01 Jul 1888 in Wilkinson Co., Ga, and died 09 Mar 1952 in Fitzgerald, GA. He married NORA VIRGINIA BYRD 13 Sep 1908 in Ga, daughter of JOHN BYRD and NANCY RASBERRY. Children of JAMES HORNE and NORA BYRD are: i. JAMES FRANCIS5 HORNE, b. 15 Nov 1909, Wilkinson Co., GA; d. 04 Sep 1987, Fitzgerald, GA; m. ELIZABETH ESTELLE GARRETT, 18 May 1935, Wilcox Co., Georgia. ii. JULIUS POPE HORNE, b. 09 May 1911, Wilkinson Co., Ga; d. 01 Jul 1980, Fitzgerald, Ga; m. JOHNIE MAE CONLEY, 24 Dec 1937, Wilcox Co., Georgia. iii. NANNIE MAE AUGUSTA HORNE, b. 09 Jan 1917, Wilkinson Co., Ga; d. 12 Apr 1945, Fitzgerald, Ga. iv. ERNESTINE LUTHERA HORNE, b. 16 Nov 1919, Wilkinson Co., Ga; d. 25 Sep 1938, Fitzgerald, Ga. v. MARGARET VIRGINIA HORNE, b. 22 Oct 1921, Wilkinson Co., Ga. vi. JULIA ELIZABETH HORNE, b. 10 Feb 1924, Wilkinson Co., Ga; d. 02 May 1989. I would also be interested in the whereabouts of the Mary and her children after 1870, as I have not been able find any of them except possibly Mary. There is a Mary Horn living in Twiggs Co. in the 1900 census close in age to James' wife. There is also a record of a Mary Horn of Twiggs Co. applying for a Civil War pension as the widow of a James Horn. Family history states that Delilah Augustann's children were all born in Wilkinson or Twiggs Co. Family history has Pope C. Williams as the father of William Coleman Horne and Jim Gilbert as the father of James Elijah. The name Pope was passed down in both of those families as a middle name. I have checked the two books written about Wilkinson Co., but they were not of much help. Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sandra Horne Farmer P. S. Can someone tell me what records are available at the Wilkinson Co. courthouse? The LDS list I saw for the county was very short.

    3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~bwo/georgia.html Books We Own There is one listed on Wilkinson County. This is a very good place to volunteer to be a "look-up" person. Trust me, you don't get many requests!! I think I've only had 3 in over a year. Maybe it is because people don't know about the site, but rather than totally duplicate efforts, I'm encouraging people within GA to have their listing on this page as well as the County Page so we don't have to create a GA State Page one too! 3. *HI ALL: Please see email to me below from "Diane", and my response to her..... >Tina: Saw your note reference Mr. Maddox's book. I, like you, would love to have a >copy. I wasn't aware of it until I visited the Irwinton, GA courthouse in >late December. As with you, it is chocked full of my family members also. Can you explain to me how to go about getting it. >I live in Augusta, GA and I understand there is a LDS library here but haven't >had an opportunity to visit it yet. Thanks for any help you can give me. >Diane ***** TINA'S RESPONSE TO DIANE: HI DIANE: I will let everyone know if I am able to obtain multiple copies of the MADDOX BOOK, WILKINSON CO.GA HISTORICAL COLLECTIONS! I love this book! if we have enough people interested, we could probably have it reprinted, or a number of copies anyway, to make it worthwhile. I will check into it and put a notice up about it at a later date. THE BOOK IS ON MICROFICHE at the Family HIstory Library in Salt Lake City (the main GIANT Genealogy Library, now called "Family History Library"). When you go to your local LDS FHC (Family HIstory Cntr), ask them to show you on the FHLC (family hist.library catalog) how to look this book up on the computer. Then ask them to show you how you can ORDER IT ON FICHE! It will only cost a few dollars. They will, if they are like our FHC where I work, and most others I believe, retain that FICHE of the entire book indefinitely (for good). So you can have it there at your heart's content! Do not overlook the FHC as a wonderful resource! If you, or anyone needs help getting started there, please feel free to ask for assistance. I'll be glad to help, give advice, suggestions, etc. Diane, if you are not already Subscribed to the WILKINSON CO. LIST (as I believe you sent your email to me personally), pls. do so, so you won't miss out on any of the posts to the List that may interest you! Best, TINA/CA List Mgr.

    3. HI VIRGINIA & ALL: (I don't think there are very many of us here yet, but I'm here too!) Of course we all know of the two major books on WILKINSON CO.GA: WILKINSON CO.GA HISTORICAL COLLECTIONS (my favorite), by Joseph T. Maddox. I bought this book in early 1980s, and didnt know at that time that Mr. Maddox is probably a distant Maddox cousin of mine! He died before I ever learned of my Maddox line from SC/Tattnall Co.GA area). In moving several yrs ago, I lost this book, and have tried ever since to obtain another copy. *If anyone knows where I might find a copy, would appreciate hearing!* Another book of course, HISTORY OF WILKINSON CO.GA, by Davidson. This is also a very good resource. I know WCHC is available on FICHE from the LDS FHC. So you can go to your local FHC (Family History Cntr) and look it up on the FHLC, and order it on fiche. Then you would have in indefinitely (forever) at your FHC so you can come in and look at whenever you wanted to. Dont know abt the other book, but it may also be on fiche. *As soon as the UTILITY PAGE is up again for this county, I will go in and make a few adjustments---so you will see "WILKINSON CO." on the subject line of each of our emails---so you will know where it's coming from at a glance!* Best to all, TINA/CA List Mgr.
