Okay, folks: Here's my Wrights info: At this time, all the WRIGHT folks I can name are living, except a brother, Glenn. This line is part of another line, and I am just beginning to work on it, so, no info. I can tell you that they are based in Monroe CO GA, but my generation has spread far and wide...perhaps, someone on this list maybe searching for the same Wrights? * * * * * * * * * : Wilkinson Co Researchers, : : In a recent email to the list from Jennifer Sherwood Braswell : (braswellte@iol10.com), : Jennifer listed all her surnames. One of them was Wright, so I was writing : to ask you, Jennifer, if you could post your Wright lineage to the list. *HI ALL: Several of us on the WATKINSREV@onelist.com list desc. from the WATKINS BROTHERS, LEVIN, MITCHELL & PETER, who were born and res. DUPLIN&EDGEC.Co.NC in 1700s. My line of MITCHELL WATKINS, SR. b. ca 1745 (m/ ELIZABETH HILL) went to WASHINGTON CO. GA by 1797. His son RICHARD WATKINS m. CELIA WYNN, and their son , FRANCIS M. WATKINS m. ELIZABETH KINGERY...they res. WILKINSON CO. GA. We are still trying to figure out who is the FATHER the 3 brothers, MITCHELL, LEVIN & PETER, and here are some names I got from the AIS #1 a few yrs ago.... 'REECE WATKINS' is because I was told yrs ago by a well meaning researcher, that my Watkins line (from MITCHELL WATKINS, SR., husband of ELIZABETH HILL), was related to the OGLETHORPE CO. WATKINS', who desc. from CHARLEMAGNE. I never found that connection .... I know tha Watkins line of Oglethorpe Co.GA was in Chester Co.PA in late 1600s/early 1700s I believe....Believe they had a ROBERT, REECE, 'LABAN', forget the others, but have the info somewhere, poss. with wives' names. I never found any matching up with our 3 WATKINS BROTHERS! Believe these Oglethorpe Co. Watkins were desc. from CADWALLADER WATKINS who res. in Chester Co. PA.... Anyone know anything about this POSSIBLE connection???? *** END **** *TINA/CA* tina@tcsn.net
http://members.carol.net/~rickysahn/GSL/gslmain.htm This page gives an excellent history (as well as rosters) for the Georgia State Line. This is always confusing to people trying to locate their ancestor who "served", but isn't listed in the typical Lillian Henderson's Regimental rosters. Here's the specific counties as he names them, but be sure to include a link to the main page because the history is also very important. Rosters: 1st Regiment (Galt's Regiment.): Officers Company A - Catoosa County Company B - Franklin County - "Joe Brown Defenders" Company C - Floyd County - "Fort Infantry" Company D - Lumpkin County - "Blue Ridge Rangers" Company E - Cobb & Fulton Counties - "State Rights Guards" Company F - Bartow County - "Georgia Blues" Company G - Banks & White Counties - "Chattahoochee Rangers" Company H - Gilmer County - "Gilmer Browns" Company I - Whitfield County - "Galt Volunteers" Company K - Murray & Gordon Counties - "Railroad Bridge Guards" Cavalry Company 2nd Regiment (Storey's Regiment): Officers Company A - Forsyth County - "State Guards" Company B - Terrell & Webster Counties - "State Right Volunteers" Company C - Paulding County - "Paulding Guards" Company D - Upson County - "State Volunteers" Company E - Harris County - "Chattahoochee Guards" Company F - Wilkinson County - "Georgia Rangers" Company G - Newton County - "Newton Guards" Company H - Washington/Warren/Emanuel Counties - "Joe Brown Volunteers" Company I - Carroll & Coweta Counties - "Cunningham Guards" Company K - Morgan & Walton Counties - "Tom Cobb Infantry" References (This is a good resource too!) RE: MYRICK booklet If anyone had promised to send Jean Myrick Gober a copy of this booklet, could you please get back in touch with her? (It was someone else after all!<G>) Pls. email Jean at JEANGENES@aol.com Thanks! TINA/CA
Tina, I still haven't rec'd the Myrick booklet (by Allie Goodwin Myrick)you promised tocopy for me. My address once again: JEAN MYRICK GOBER 3344 CHERRYBROOK DR. BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA 35214 Looking forward to your reply. Thanks again. Jean Myrick Gober
Thank you so much for sending the Collier info. I'm trying to tie my paternal ggm (Sallie Viola Smith Pickle) to the Collier family in Early County, GA. She married Richard Lee Pickle in 1859 and later moved to East Texas leaving no info. on the Smith family. The 1880 Early Co census has them living next door to Amanda Collier and children just before the move and I know MANY Georgia Colliers came over to East Texas, also. Nan Pickle
Dear Jean: Pls. fill me in; I do not know what Myrick booklet you are referring to. I dont have that line, and unless I've totally spaced out (which is possible!<Grin>), I have no recollection of this.... Where did I say I saw this booklet??? Maybe it was someone else who was copying it for you??? Will await your reply..... TINA/CA
Wilkinson County Researchers, I have really been enjoying this list - kudos to Tina for your enthusiasm. I have been working on a web page and I think parts of it will be beneficial to other Wilkinson County genealogists working through the web. I have a family tree page and on it, as you scroll down, I have lots of web links. I have split the web links up into a few categories: Georgia, Surnames, Genealogy in General (this has LDS, Ancestry.com, and other general sites) and misc. I encourage you to take a look at these links. I started researching on the web about two years ago, and I've tried to include all the good sites that I have come across over that period. Also, if you know of other sites that would be helpful, please let me know, so that I can add them! Here's the url: www.geocities.com/Heartland/Shores/7209 Good luck in your research! *HI ALL: Got this URL from another GA List that I'm on .... went and checked it out first, and it is pretty good.... there are people who will do free Look ups....various states, counties, countries, surnames .... Only drawback is that they are not alphabetical, or by locality, etc. So you just have to scan down the page for your area or name of interest. I did, however, find several I am interested in .... so it was worth doing. go to: http://genweb.net/~gen-cds/private.html Believe you can go "Back" and see the person's initial homepage also.....didnt spend alot of time on that as I was being kicked off the computer abt that time by my 14 yr old dtr! Have fun!! *TINA/CA*
