Does anyone know the parents of Elijah F. Pettus/Pettis of Twiggs Co. and Wilkinson Co.GA? He married Martha about 1849/50. They are on the 1850 census of Twiggs Co. with no children. In 1860 they are living in Sumter Co. GA with several children. In 1870 Martha is in Wilkinson Co. and is a Smith. On the 1880 census of Wilkinson Co. Martha Smith is living with 2 Pettis children and 2 Patterson grandchildren. Does anyone know the parents of Elijah F. Pettus? There is a Stephen Pettus on the 1840 census of Twiggs Co. Is he Elijah's father? Does anyone know Martha's last name and her parents? Thanks, Phyllis

SURNAMES: Toler, Lord, Walters, Tarpley, Underwood, Thompson, VanLandingham, Wynn, Horne, McRaeny, Minton, Webb, Wilson I will be going to Wilkinson County in a couple of weeks for a few days of visiting and research, and will be going to several cemeteries where kin are buried: The Lord Family Cemetery, Salem Methodist, Poplar Springs Methodist (does anyone know exactly where it's located?), Walters Family Cemetery, and Irwinton Cemetery. I also hope to have a chance to go through records at the Wilkinson County Courthouse. Does anyone know what I may expect to find in the way of records there? Any markers at any of the above cemeteries anyone would like me to look out for? Anyone researching any of the above lines please feel free to get in touch. I'm concentrating on the Toler, Lord, Walters, Tarpley, Thompson, and VanLandingham lines this trip, but am always ready to branch out. Also, I'm working on a comprehensive Lord chart for Wilkinson County Lords that goes all the way back across the pond, and am willing to share with anyone who is interested.
Seeking information about Corn Patterson and Gillie Pettus who appear on the 1870 census of Wilkinson Co. GA. Does anyone know their parents, siblings, etc? Corn Patterson is age 21 and Gillie is 17. They do not have any children yet. Living with them is Silas Patterson age 18. How is he related to Corn? Also living close by is Ruben Patterson age 10 living with Mitchell Fountain. I guess Corn is short for Cornelius. Thanks for your help. Phyllis
*HI: This has been around, but it's so good I'll send just in case there's anyone in the world who hasn't seen it!!!<G> TINA Adam was walking around the Garden of Eden feeling very lonely. So, God >asked him "what is wrong with you?" Adam said he didn't have anyone to >talk to. > >God said that he was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be >a woman. He said, "This person will gather food for you, cook for you, >when you discover clothing she will wash it for you, she will always >agree with every decision you make. She will bear your children and >never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of >them. >She will not nag you and will always be the first to admit that she was >wrong when you've had a disagreement. She will never have a headache >and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it". > >Adam asked God, "What will a woman like this cost?" > >God replied, "An arm and a leg". > >Then Adam asked, "What can I get for a rib?" > >And the rest is history.

MY EMAIL TO MY WATKINSREV list: This is the line of Cadwalader that a genealogy researcher sevl yrs ago told me that my Mitchell Watkins, sr. descended from. But I have found no connection, still don't! Dont think it's connected, but basically it's: CADWALADER WATKINS b. abt 1660 Wales, d. 1718 Philadelphia Co.PA. ROBERT WATKINS b. abt 1695 Wales, d. 1753 Augusta Co.VA m/1 Margaret m/2 June Williams Ch. of Robt. & Margaret: AARON m. Anne Ralston; MOSES ; REECE; PHILIP; ENOCH m. Eliz.WALTHALL & MARY THOMAS BENGEMAN b. abt 1740 Campbell Co.VA; ROBT ; MARGARET m. George Barber. Children of REECE WATKINS b. abt 1731 & Sarah Barber: ELIZABETH, ROBT, ROBT., BENJAMIN, MARTHA, SARAH, NANCY, OLIVE, PHILLIP, MOSES, REECE, JR. (these children were b. 1756-1777 in VA) Like I said, PROBABLY NO CONNECTION TO OURS AT ALL (in fact, as I prev. emailed a while back, the Watkins' of OGLETHORPE CO.GA are descended from this CADAWALADER WATKINS line .... and it goes back to Charlemagne)..... But if anyone ever sees a connection to our 3 Watkins brothers, pls. let me know! *TINA/CA* List Mgr. "You don't know who you ARE until you know who you are FROM."

*HI ALL: Found an old email from 1995, from a woman named Dorothy East. We emailed each other when we were both on Prodigy....don't know if her email add. is still good, but will post it here.... She wrote abt her husband's LORD family of Wlknsn Co. GEORGE W. LORD m. America Jane CHAMBERS. Says she has this line back to William, Rev Sold. from MD.. She asked if I had the following names, so they must be hers: BENTLEY, UNDERWOOD, EAST, YOUNGBLOOD, ETHERIDGES, HARTLEY, MACKEY. If anyone wants to try and reach her, she could still be at: EZVT79A@PRODIGY.COM (or PRODIGY.NET, not sure which one....). She may not even be at Prodigy anymore, lots of people are leaving there....the internet has taken many of us anyway! But this info might be of interest to someone....so here it is! *TINA/CA* List Mgr.
