Hi, The list you posted is very useful (and interesting) -- thanks for posting it. As for RS -- I believe it probably refers to Revolutionary War Soldier. Margaret Buchanan
Hello All! I had a wonderful time in Wilkinson Co. I also visited bibb, Jones, and twiggs also. Found a lot of tidbits also that I would like to share with you. I am not responsible for any errors in the information. Please as always, remember to verify it yourself. There will probably be more than one email. Watch the subject line for each section. Please let me know if this is helpful. If not I will not take the time to do it. Thanks. The first list of names is from a Book "Family Heads 1805 Georgia" . I copied the pages with the names I was searching, but as You know, we end up with extra stuff as well. If any one knows what the "RS" means, please let me know. Didn't see a key for it in the book. I copied this at the Wilkinson co. courthouse. sincerely, pat http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/8044 Family Heads 1805 Georgia Page 26 Part 1 BROWN Peter Franklin Co. s/o John Phillip Franklin Co. w. Hi all: I see photos in antique shops and it breaks my heart, knowing that these p;eople 'belong' to someone out there, but there's no way of knowing who!!! Maybe we could buy these photos (usually very inexpensive), and frame them, put them up with our ancestors, and if people ask, we can say they are "friends"! They ARE FRIENDS! FRIENDS OF SOMEONE!!!!!<G> I have started collecting as many pictures of RELATIVES & FRIENDS of my known ancestors .... these are part of their history too...... *HI ALL: Am posting this as there is nothing else that pertains more to genealogy than these beautiful words from the wonderful movie, "How Green Was My Valley." I feel like crying everytime I read it. *TINA/CA* tina@tcsn.net "And Their Eyes Were My Eyes." From "How Green Was My Valley" by Richard Llewellyn: "I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to >come, I looked back and saw my father, and his father, and all our >fathers, and in front to see my son, and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond. > >And their eyes were my eyes. > >As I felt, so they had felt and were to feel, as then, so now, as >tomorrow and forever. Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had >no beginning and no end, and the hand of his father grasped my father's >hand, and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand, and all, up and down the line that stretched from Time That Was to Time That Is, >and Is Not Yet, raised their hands to show the link, and we found that >we were one, born of Woman, Son of Man, made in the Image, fashioned in >the Womb by the Will of God, the Eternal Father."

Hi All, I'm researching the family of Zadock SIMMONS, b. c1756 (probably in NC), son of Lacy SIMMONS (Zadock's mother is yet unverified). This family is associated with the COTTON/COTTENs, CARTERs, WHITAKERs, JACKSONs and YOUNGs of Halifax Co., NC. Zadock and his son, John F. SIMMONS, were granted a passport from Anson Co., NC into Wilkinson Co., GA on 4 May 1812. Both appear there in the 1820 federal census, and to the best of my knowledge both lived there for the remainder of their lives. Zadock left a will in Wilkinson Co. in 1821. John Frederick was the only child he mentioned, along with several grandchildren from John). John F. was born between 1790 and 1794 in Halifax Co., NC. His mother was Sarah CLAYBOURN/CLAIBORNE. He apparently had 10 children, although I am not sure of his wife or wives. According to _History of Wilkinson County, Georgia_, by Victor Davidson, John F. SIMMONS was active in county/local affairs in the 1820s. His will was also filed in Wilkinson County. Is anyone else researching this family? Any clues on who John married? Would anyone like more info (or to share theirs)? Happy Hunting, Jennifer Jacksonville, FL jennifer@leading.net Proud RootsWeb Sponsor+ Join us at GATHOMAS-L, ABBOTT-L, STANALAND-L

TINA'S REPLY: THE A.I.S. (Accellerated Indexing System) on fiche at your local FHC, has a MORTALITY SCHEDULE for *I believe* 1850. This might be just what you are looking for! Call or go to the FHC nearest you and ask if they have the AIS. If the FHC consultant doesn't know, go there and look....It's called A.I.S., and it has several diff. "searches" in it .... 1-7a. And the Mortality Schedule (not just for GA, now that I think of it, prob. the whole US for 1850...I think. I hvent looked at it for a number of years.) You will see what the different "searches" are on the AIS, but the one I usually look at the most is Search #7a -- it pretty much covers the whole U.S., for like 200 year span. You'll see the specific searches it has. Good luck!
