HEY MIKE! Emails sent to you are being bounced back to me .. that is, private emails from me to you. Please get in touch. Cuz'n Tina
Didn't get around to responding to this earlier but noticed that someone else had offered a solution. However, there is an alternative for those who have lots of email folders (like me) and would prefer not to have to move them all. 1. Place the cursor over the folder desired to be moved and right-click the mouse. 2. Select <Properties> in the resulting winlet, place the cursor over the path, click, and shift the cursor to the right end of the path using the right arrow key. Note the entire path. 3. Go to Windows Explorer and follow the path through the correspondingly named folders until you find the same named dot dbx file. 4. Copy this file to a transportable media. 5. Construct a similar set of email folders on the destination computer. Using <Properties>, note this path. 6. Using Explorer, copy the .dbx file into the end folder of the path noted in item 5. Obviously, one can copy more than a single .dbx file at a time but note keeping is appropriate during the transition. Personally, I connect my two computer (desktop and laptop) by Ethernet and move the files via that connection. Entire folders may be moved using this method with Explorer as long as they are designated as Shared resources. Before Ethernet, I used a cassette disk to move several .dbx files at a time. Hope this offers insight for some with similar circumstances. Keen, sister to Tully and Charles. Laura is my gggrandmother. Laura married an unknown Sanders who I have been searching for many years. Laura had two children by unknown Sanders.....Elizabeth (Lizzie) Sanders Thompson (my ggrandmother) and William Sanders. Would you have anything in your information as to who Laura married the first time? Her second husband was Henry Hampton Bailey. Diane Thompson Dixon

HI COUSIN MIKE: Thanks very much for the kind words. I love managing this and a few (million) other email lists, and do think of them as "places" to meet cousins and help others.... On our SCOTT line, I was told by another cousin (I've lost track of her and haven't heard from her in a long time, and her emails were in my other computer that crashed over a year ago!), that our Margaret E. Scott's father is or probably is HIRAM SCOTT, who on one of the later census' shows he was born, I believe, in CT. It was either 'CT' or "RI"... anyway, I thought it was a pretty good lead anyway. And if she's still on t his list, I'd love to hear from her again! My STALLINGS line, which is a new line to me, is on my father's side of the family, which all my Wilkinson Co. lines are ----- it's related to my SPIVEY line, which allied lines to that are (Wilknsn Co. lines) of: SPIVEY, KEEN(E), WILKERSON, KINGERY, HOOKS, HOLLIMAN, etc Here's the connection: WM. SIMEON SPIVEY I, R.S., of NC, m. Mary Mollie STALLINGS " " " II, of Putnam Co.GA m. Frances WILKERSON (dtr of Hammon Wilkerson & Olive) NANCY SPIVEY m. THOS. JEFFERSON HOLLIMAN (of Putnam & Wilknsn Co.GA) Let me know if you see any connections there! I found most of this info on genforum.com, worldconnect, etc., and then emailed the individuals who posted the info to compare further. Have a great day, cousin! *Tina/CA* ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 21, 2003 5:29 AM Subject: Re: [GAWILKIN-L] SCOTT/KEEN(e) > --pby3.pepboys.com.h0LDYa9x016004 > Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > > > Cousin Tina: > I sit out here in my corner of the world - watching all the message traffic > on this site - and I find two things amazing: > 1) this is one of the best - and most active / interactive mailing lists I > have seen (and I am watching a bunch of them) > 2) You have to be one of the most "Upbeat" (that's a compliment) person's I > have ever bumped into. You might take a look at http://members.tripod.com/myfamilysearch/dixon_clan.htm to see if any of my Dixon's match yours. My g-grandfather was Dave Dixon whose father came from Wilkinson Co. to Lowndes Co., GA about 1840 with wife Martha Green Dixon. Most Dixon's in Wilkinson Co. I've researched are related and I suspect that all are; just haven't been able to confirm. Hey, if my Scott cousin is lurking around here somewhere (who told me that she thinks our Margaret Elizabeth Scott's father may have been *Hiram Scott of CT*, **please** get in touch with me. I haven't heard from you or seen you around for a while, and want to touch bases with you.... Thanks, Cuz'n Tina
OK, Linda, I now see you over in that corner..... but here I come to TALK TO YA!! I KNOW once we hit on some common lines, you'll open right up! If your DOMINY line ever runs into a connection with my KEEN/KINGERY line, be sure to give a holler. I do not descend from DOMINY myself, but know that line married into one of the siblings of my KEEN/Kingery family (forget exactly which....I think the KEEN(e) line). I bet you would find something on the DOMINY's, that marr. the Keen's, on cousin Bob Kingery's website. I dont have the url handy, but if you go to www.yahoo.com, and type in KINGERY KIN, it will take you right to it! Good luck! I have one book each on Wilkinson, Twiggs, and Pulaski County GA Censuses (1820-1880). IF you know any first names, let me know as there are 29 pages in Wilkinson on which HUGHS are listed. I have not researched them thoroughly in Wilkinson County. Yet, I have researched the Hugh/Hughes in Twiggs County, which was made from Wilkinson.. If you can give me more information, as Tina suggested, I hope I might can help you. Haywood Hughs/Hughes( b. 1818) of Twiggs County, GA married into my WYNN family of Pulaski, County, GA. Elmina Coley married first time to John A. Wynn and second time to Haywood Hughes of Twiggs County, GA. The Hughes were very prominent early settlers in Twiggs County. Hi All: Was just thinking about my response and Gervaise response to the person researching HUGHES in Wilkinson Co. It made me think of the way I like to think of doing genealogical research....especially online: I think of an email list, for instance, as a big gathering of people from the same place *or* who have ancestors from that place... but that all of us, you and me, and the hundreds of us who are on the GAWilkin-L email list here, we are all in a big room or "place" all together ... like a big FAMILY REUNION HALL, let's say! And even though it's *electronically* and maybe we aren't actually *seeing* each other, we ARE seeing each other's words... so think of ourselves as being at a big WILKINSON CO.GA REUNION, where many of us are RELATED thru different family lines, but we don't know it yet! Some of us DO know each other, and how we are related, and that's wonderful! Some of us are still trying to find kin here! But (at this big REUNION), do we want to stand around all alone in a corner, not talking to anyone, or saying who our ancestors were, or do we want to WEAR OUR NAME TAGS ON OUR SHIRTS SO ALL CAN SEE WHO WE ARE, and also hold up a big sign SHOWING OUR ANCESTORS NAMES so others can see who our ancestors were? We dont want to keep it to ourselves, but share it with others so we can make some connections. And if someone is new to the Reunion, and they ask if anyone is related to them ----- well, the only way we'd know if we are or aren't, is if the person tells us as much about their ancestors as they can, and THEN we would know, and could tell them! So, have fun at the WILKINSON CO. REUNION we have here, and let's keep talking and visiting and having fun! And don't forget to hold up your LIST OF ANCESTOR NAMES now and then for all who are here and new folks who wander in and might be shy! My Wilkinson Co. names: WATKINS, WYNN, CHERRY, SANDERS, SCOTT, KEEN/e, KINGERY, SHEPPARD, HOOKS, HOLLIMAN, SUMMERFORD, STUCKEY, HOGAN, SMITH, GIBSON, SPIVEY, WILKerSON, STALLINGS --- Do I have any cousins here who I havent met yet?? (I'm real friendly & I love to talk, so don't be shy to come up and talk to me!!! :) Best to all, *Cuz'n Tina/CA* *Both my parents were born and raised in GA, with my DAd, Emory Keene, being the Wilkinson Co. connection*
Sorry, I dont know or have any HUGHES in Wilkinson Co., although I'm related to MANY families there. What do you KNOW about your HUGHES family there?? I'll be glad to give you some tips/suggestions.... JOHN HUGHES, right? What CENSUS' have you found him on?? Check all the census' when he may have lived there, esp. the ones from 1850 and on, as those will show ALL FAMILY MEMBERS' names, ages, places of birth, parents' birthplaces, etc. Check the WILKINSON CO. websites for info available. Would he have been in Civil War? Check those records too. Can be checked on line...(if I havent sent the url for the site, someone remind me and I will). Check the following sites: - www.genforum.com (for HUGHES surname list) - www.worldconnect.rootsweb.com (zillions of genealogies here) - www.familysearch.org (the LDS family history website- a Must!)... click on SEARCH and then type in your known name and whatever info you have, but esp. Do you know any of the allied names (married into fmaily names, or close relatives) to the HUGHES family?? Keep posting posting posting your info everywhere!!! Contact me directly at [email protected] and I may be able to offer some advice. Have done that transition. Bill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Theresa M. The only way I can figure out how to do this, is to set my old computer to look for new messages every 24 hours. Then to forward each message individually to myself. Connect my new computer and then retrieve the messages. > > There has got to be a better, faster way. > > I am having the same problem with my favorites listings.
