I do have a record from DAR Jan 31, 1785 that shows in Savannah, GA, Chatham County To James McDonald, merchant, Lot 12 in Wrightsborough, orig. granted to Waldin. This just came to me from another Walden researcher today, Warren Walker. I also have two records for NC: Samuel Walding married ?Bride not listed 1790 in Wayne Co, NC and a Shadrach Vining to Phereby Ratcliff marriage in Johnson Co, NC in 1778. There was a Shadrack Vining that was also neighbors to my Samuel and John Walden and Moses Newton. Moses Newton was also listed as Moses Newton, MD in some of the Jefferson County Tax Records. I still don't know of any related Walden family to Newton. There was two Walden's in Jefferson that married Matthews' daughters. Morris Walden married Sarah Matthews and Ira Walden married unknown Matthews, Sara's sister. This info came from the will of a James Mathews in Washington County which joins Jefferson Co. It listed these folks as heirs to his estate. This was around 1830 to 40 (don't have my records out this second). The unknown Matthews daughter appeared to be already deceased by this time and Ira did remarry after that.

I have a Walden mentioned on the 1804 and 1805 Jefferson Co. Tax Lists as owning adjoining land to James McDonald. No first name was mentioned. James McDonald had a daughter named Mary Kirk (married to a Kirk and I believe they lived in Montgomery Co NC). I have not found any other daughters. Other names mentioned in the will: sons: James, Matthews, Jared (or Jacob), William; John Morris, Moses Nedwton, S. Samuel Batey and Mary Robinson. Do you recognize any of these names? James's wife's name was Sarah Matthews (died 1799) and we do notice land exchanges between James and Jacob and Michael Matthews in Jefferson Co. (I'm just throwing out names in case you recognize anyone) Moses Newton was a war hero or something who seemed to be a trustee to many people's wills, etc in Jefferson Co. I tried also to see if there was a connection between him and the McDonalds but have not found any.

I am trying to find a connection between your James McDonald and my John Walden relative. From Jefferson County Court of Ordinary Minutes Book A 1801-1815 it reads: Monday 15 July, 1811 - On the petition of John Walden praying that Moses Newton Executor of the Estate of James McDonald deceased be directed to make title to the petioner to a certain tract of land containing 300 acres in the County of Jefferson according to the ? of a bond given by the said James McDonald in his lifetime to the said John Walden it is ordered that the said Moses Newton Executor of said deceased do make title to the said John Walden or his heirs in terms of the Acts of the General Assembly in such cases. (Moses Newton hired Attorney John Guyton to appeal the will of James McDonald.) I remember looking at this will of James McDonald last year but can't remember what was in it. I'm probably wrong but seems like a daughter Jane or Mary J was mentioned? My John Walden was married to Jane unknown and I have not proven who she was. Could she be related to James McDonald or Moses Newton. There was also a Moses Walden which I have not proof but feel strongly is a son of my direct line Samuel Walden of Jefferson Co., GA. Do you know of any connection?

Below is a website I almost literally stumbled onto today while doing some civil war research .... It's not alot of records, but I found TWO that I know are related to my direct line ancestors!! One is HEZEKIAH BUSSEY of Muscogee/Talbot Co.GA, and another is Samuel Fleming's widow Eliza's pension appl. records! These records are normally NOT found online, but mainly at the NARA (archives in DC)... so this was a great 'find'! If you have GA ancestors in the Civil War, it's worth a quick look. Just click below, and then when you get to the page, you will see Pension Records down the left side of page, and several diff. GA county names listed. Click on the County name and view the names that are there. And don't worry if the counties aren't YOUR ANCESTOR'S COUNTIES - Look anyway! If I hadn't looked, I would have missed some!! (There aren't that many, so it doesnt take that long to scan thru the names alphabetically). (I will be teaching a class soon on CIVIL WAR RECORDS and! have learned alot about civil war records, which I'll be sharing *soon* .... there's alot of info available on civil war ancestors, Union & Confederate (mine are all confed., all from GA of course), much is online, but not all; it's kinda complicated how to find the records, but I'll try to post as much as I can on it soon. Maybe next week.... Good luck, and hope you find some that are yours! *Tina/CA* GO TO: http://docuweb.gsu.edu/scripts/webmain.dll?Anonymous

Hi All: This is to announce a brand new email list for anyone interested in receiving occasional notices about good FAMILY HISTORY/GENEALOGICAL websites/resources and/or learning more about their FAMILY HISTORY/GENEALOGY... it is a list I have created, mainly because I know of so many people who are interested in new tidbits of Genealogy Info/Resources that I find on the internet and elsewhere, and I love to share these tidbits... The LDSFHCConsultants email list only for FHC Consultants, but this new list is for anyone and everyone who has an interest in "where to", "how to", "I have a question", "Here's a great new genealogy website/resource", etc. I am sending this to alot of people tonight, and if you have received this, that means I'd love to have you join this list IF you are interested. If not, just Delete this email. If, however, you'd like to stay on my "send good new genealogy info to" list, then this is the list to join! You can of course subscribe to the list and unsub to the list at any time, and we'll still be friends! :) But if you are someone who would like to learn more abt FH/Genealogy, have questions that you'd like to have someone to run a question by now and then, or want all the new and helpful websites/resources that I come across fairly often (and you are NOT already on my LDSFHCConsultants list), then please subscribe to the list by sending an email to the following address. That's all you need to do. Then sit back, and you will probably get a couple/few emails a week from me with good genealogy websites I come across. (They will be GENERAL genealogy websites, not for every little thing, such as Wilkinson Co.GA --- but more along the lines of, for instance, "GREAT CIVIL WAR/REV. WAR WEBSITE/RESOURCE", "More Census Records Online", etc., more of a general nature that would be of interest to MANY people, not real specific to specific locales, etc. So, if you would like to start to receive, or continue receiving, Genealogy Research/Info from me occasionally (it won't be a heavy traffic list!), please just send an email to: [email protected] (no apostraphe), and you will be automatically placed on the list. That's all you have to do. That will make it alot easier and faster for me to send out valuable info to all who want it. If you have any questions about the list, don't hesitate to email me. *Best to all,* *Tina*
