    3. Cindy, I looked through Wiley's estate documents and found a reference to Benjamin Vinson there, too. Wiley's children were Martha Elizabeth, Charlotte, Winniford, Frederick Thomas, Wiley Jr., Mary J., Caroline, Gracie, & James T. according to the 1850 census & other sources. 3. Cindy, I don't know much about him, either. (Atleast where his parents & siblings are concerned.). I do know that he was born around 1815, married Charlotte Hardie (daughter of Robert & Martha Hardie from N.C.) & was apparently well-to-do as his estate was bonded for around $8000.00 & including some slaves. He died in 1854, followed shortly thereafter by his wife. I found where he had bought some land in Wilkinson Co. from a Benjamin P. Vinson in 1853. He is possibly the son of a Levin Vinson of Wilkinson Co. , whose estate documents I also found, dated 1831 showing the division of slaves to James W. Vinson, Jane Vinson, & Nelly Vinson (who was also the executor of the estate.) One slave that was given to Jane was a boy named Charles. One of the slaves sold as part of Wiley's estate in 1854 was a man named Charles, 35 yrs. old. Have you heard any of this before? Let me know. 1. [GAWILKIN-L] HANSKATE or HANSHATE surname 1850
    2. Lana
    3. Does anyone have any information on the HANSKATE or HANSHATE surname? I am looking to find more info on a woman named Barbary with the above last name, (not sure of the spelling) she is in dwelling 361 living with Daniel R THOMAS and his family in the 1850 Irwin Co. census. Along with her is a Jacob age 35 and a Permalia age 17 and Barbary was age 60 and born in NC, her jacob and Permelia were both said to be born in GA. This family somehow connects to my THOMAS line. If anyone can shed any light on this subject I would be a happy tree shaker!! Was Barbary Daniel's sister? Or could she have been a sister to Nancy JOHNSON THOMAS, wife of Daniel? I have copies of Wills and probate papers from Union SC, in these pages mentions a Barbary, widow of Richard THOMAS. Can anyone offer some assistance with this matter? Thank you, Lana

    3. I am researching VINSON's and SIMS and WRIGHT The VINSON's are from Wilkinson Co. GA, Talbot Co. GA and Butler Co. AL. The WRIGHT's are from Washington CO. GA, Lee Co. AL. This SIMS line (I descend from two SIMS lines) is from Butler Co., AL, Dale Co. AL, Barbour Co. AL and Pike Co. GA. (Just for your info, but not to confuse the issue, my OTHER SIMS line is the Sherrod SIMS and Rev. A. T. SIMS line from Butler Co. AL and Lancaster Co. SC, for those interested.) My great, great grandparents were Charles Moses VINSON and Sarah WRIGHT. I have evidence that they married in Talbot Co. GA under the name of VINSIN. Charles was born in Wilkinson Co, GA in 1813 and died in Butler Co., AL in 1895. We believe Sarah's family (WRIGHT) was originally from Washington Co. GA and later migrated to Lee Co. AL, Her parents were, Samuel WRIGHT and Elizabeth WILMOTH, and are both buried near Auburn. We are not sure if Sarah was born in GA or AL, but her birth year is 1819. She died in Butler Co. AL, but I have a conflict on her death date of either 7-23-1899 or 4-8-1908. The children of Charles and Sarah were (all of Butler Co. AL): Uriah C. (U. C.) VINSON m. 1) Susie A. FLOWERS and 2) Callie R. McKENZIE T. J. VINSON m. Mattie E. BINON Earnest A. VINSON m. Kate TAYLOR Frances V. VINSON m. Jame M. SIMS (my great grandparents) Mary V. VINSON m. James M. HARRIS My great grandfather, James M. SIMS, was a partner in the mercantile business with his brother-in-law, U. C. VINSON in Georgiana (Butler CO.) AL in the late 1800's and early 1900's. If anyone is researching VINSON or VINSIN in any of these counties spanning the early 1800's to the mid to late 1800's I would be pleased for you to contact me to exchange notes. I am particularly interested in pursuing the parentage of Charles Moses VINSON, who are unconfirmed, and continuing on the lineage of Sarah WRIGHT (some of which I already have). I have much on both SIMS lines and am always happy and willing to share my info on those lines, as well. And am always interested in adding to those and sorting things out. Thank You, Cindy (Sims) Kirkland

Take Hy 50 until it crosses with Mt Zion Rd. The Harrison cemetery is less than a mile on the left on a small hill to the left of the road. There is a racetrack on the left after the cemetery. I am a descendant of this line also. Sarah Curtis
