Wilkes County wasn't formed until 1777, so you are going to be working with British colonial records for that time period. I have a small volume of records covering 1748-1783, but there is no Durham in the index, nor in any other of my GA or Wilkes books that early. Some Durhams did pay taxes in Wilkes County from 1787-----Abraham, Anderson, David, Joab, and Samuel. There is also listings for Abraham DURHOM, Andesens DURREM, and Samuel DURROM. There is a Thomas HOWARD paying taxes in Wilkes County in 1786, and a T. HOWARD in 1802. There are a lot of other Howards in the index, too. Do you have more precise information on Letty: where she and Thomas Howard married, particularly, when they left GA for KY, etc.?
