Ga Wills Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/WilkesWill/10054 Surname: Bentley, Jackson, Smith, Wooten, Alexander, Randol, Nunnaly, Norman, Venable, Lepham ------------------------- This is copy of letters of administration of Jeremiah Bentley. Jeremaih Bentley was a Revolutioanry War Soldier , 5th Company, commanded by Abraham Venable, 1st Regiment, commanded by Major Aaron Lepham, Georgia Militia, Wilkes County. Jeremiam BENTLEY is first cousin to William BENTLEY II that left his will in Wilkes County, Georgia in 1792. The father of Willaim II was William I of Bertie and Edgecombe Counties, North Carolina and Jeremiah's father was Joseph BENTLEY of Bertie and Edgecombe Counties, North Carolina William BENTLEY II was also a Revolutionary War Soldier. "Jeremiah BENTLEY and his wife (Abi Amason) came to Georgia (Wilkes County) from NORTH CAROLINA, according to his Affidavit at the State House when he applied for land. His Land grant was dated October 26, 1784. He says he had not been granted land in Georgia before that date. This does not preclude the fact that he may have been in Georgia earlier but had not applied for land before. I believe that was the case since I have a reference to a Jury List placing him on jury duty January 4, 1779-Febuary 20, 1779 in the District between TURKEY CREEK and the Savannah River. Another Question I have is that according to today's maps Turkey Creek is in SOUTH CAROLINA....They (Jeremiah and Abi Bentley) had two children when they applied for land (in Georgia)." (This was written By Mary Bentley RANDOL) Jeremiah Bentley left a will in Wilkes County, Georgia on December 29, 1817.
