I descend from the Smith family that went into Wilkes, the Oglethorpe Counties before 1800. My Nancy Smith was born in 1782, presumably Georgia, married John Hawkins, and died in 1836 in Oglethorpe Co. Her children were: Augustus Caesar Hawkins, Elizabeth S(mith?) Hawkins, Mary Ann Hawkins who married George Henderson Lee, Charles Alexander Hawkins, John Blanton Hawkins, Martha Washington Hawkins, Thomas Harrison Hawkins, Nancy Susan Hawkins who married Edward Birdsong, Rebecca Ann Hawkins, William Milton Hawkins, Harriet Blanton Hawkins, Felix Gibson Hawkins, and Thaddeus Henry Hawkins. Any one recognize this family? Many of these children immigrated to Mississippi after the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek and settled in both Monroe or Lowndes Co., MS. Any help would be appreciated.
