Ga Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Wilkes/10737 Surname: Barclay ------------------------- In Wilkes County, supposedly in May 1806, a Polly or Mary Barclay was hanged for the murder of her husband, assisting her was supposed to be a Mark Mitchum, her lover. Judge Tait held the trial. Mr. Barclay's grave is supposed to be located on the old Elbertson and Augusta road a few miles beyond Sandtown (Hyde). A Mr. T.W. Callaway had a map of Wilkes County, and a spot is marked "Murdered Bartlett's Grave" which should have been Barclay. This Polly was my great great grandmother. Can you give me any information on thi subject? Supposedly there is a Polly Barclay tree, named after her in Washington, GA, being the tree where she was hung. Can you give me additional info?
