    1. Looking for BINNS Family Info
    2. Yvonne and Steve
    3. Hello Everyone, We are sending this email to many lists because each of these states/counties have a BINNS relation that has resided in them. We have been researching the BINNS name for many years. Many of our original email contacts for many of these areas are no longer valid. So we are sending this mass email message. We apologize for any inconvenience. Our research has resulted in an original BINNS source as Christopher Binns of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Virginia, born about 1670. There are several presumptions on a variety of lines but these presumptions have a substantial basis. The descendants of this Christopher Binns have spread far and wide throughout the country. Genealogy is becoming a very popular hobby and we hope that many new individuals are now subscribed to these email lists and they may have connections to BINNS families. We invite any and all to visit our 'American Binns Families and Individuals' website, listed in our signature file below, for any possible connection. We need everyones help in establishing a more positive connection. We need family trees and family records. We need corrections and additions. Please help us to create a more accurate BINNS family tree for everyone to pass on to their descendants. Email links are located on our website. Thank you for your consideration!! 1. August Issue "Georgia Settlers"
    2. The quarterly for the East Georgia Genealogical Society (EGGS) will be coming out the first week of August. Contents of the next issue include: County Records Clarke Co. Deed Book A, (1802-1804) Hart Co. Research Resources Jackson Co. Marriage Book D (1860-1869), pp. 171-340 Morgan Co. Bonds (1816-27), pp. 184-224 Oglethorpe Co. Echo, Mar. 9, 1877 - Mar. 23, 1877 Walton Co. Wills & Est. Records A, (1819-1827), pp. 133-153 Wm. A. Slaughter Journal The main goal of the EGGS quarterly is to abstract "never before published" records, or various other documents and information of genealogical content, and place in the quarterly for the 28 counties the Society serves: Banks, Barrow, Butts, Clarke, Columbia, Elbert, Franklin, Glascock, Greene, Gwinnett, Hancock, Hart, Jackson, Jasper, Lincoln, Madison, McDuffie, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Putnam, Rockdale, Stephens, Taliaferro, Walton, Warren and Wilkes. Just a note on the William Allen Slaughter Journal - the Journal was written to outline the family history and descendants of this branch of the Slaughters. The line, as recalled by W. A. Slaughter (1804-1886), stems from John Slaughter (1733-1798) who m. Frances Brothers. Many of the Slaughter descendants in Georgia are descended from this line. As a continuation, in the November issue, some of the genealogical lines will be put in order and verified when possible. This small journal brings a wealth of information about a family with a proud heritage. If interested, additional information and applications forms to join the society can be found on the EGGS web site at: www.rootsweb.com/~gaeggs Of course, you're most welcome to add your query to the web page.

    1. DNA study -- TRAYLOR
    2. Linda Sparks Starr
    3. I apologize for the duplication of messages, but we want to get this announcement to as many people as possible. There are at least two TRAYLOR lines who moved from VA to GA. My own line comes from William d.1791 in Wilkes Co. GA; his descendants moved to various other GA counties before moving on west. Efforts are now under way to launch DNA Y-chromosone tests within the Traylor family. We especially need volunteers who can trace their lineage back to 18th century sons of William and Edward Traylor in Henrico and Chesterfield Counties, VA. Only Traylor males who are direct line descendants can be tested for the Y-chromosone. We are also trying to contact English Traylors to see if we can set up links between them and our American Traylor family. The name is variously spelled Trayler, Trailer, or Trailor. If you have Traylor roots and are interested in this project, please contact the coordinator at [email protected] For more information on DNA Y-chromosone testing for genealogical purposes, visit these websites: www.FamilyTreeDNA.com or, for one family's experience http://www.mumma.org/DNA.htm Linda Sparks Starr http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lksstarr

    1. Hinton / Norman Researchers we need your help!
    2. Martha Hambrick Harrell
    3. DAR Patriots, Rev. Dempsey Hinton and Jesse Norman's lines have been closed due to lack of military service proof. Lineage Documentation - from us to the patriot has not been questioned. We recently received notice from DAR, Washington, DC, that the lines of Reverend Dempsey Hinton and Jesse Norman have been closed due to lack of acceptable documentation for these patriots. The genealogist for DAR decided that the 1930's documentation for patriotic service for these men was now unacceptable. The original DAR application from the 1930's, which we have seen, stated the service for Rev. D.H. was listed as follows: and I quote: "The service credited to D.H. was that he was killed by John Anderson in a fort at Mallorysville, Wilkes Co., GA. This information was in a certified statement of Bible records and court records submitted by the applicant. The information concerning the fort appears to be in the Bible records. If you have any information which confirms those records, please provide it." additionally my letter states: "The court records of First Court of Wilkes Co. for 27 Aug 1779, states that an indictment was brought against John Anderson for taking the life of Dempsey Hinton. Nothing in the available records indicate where or when the killing took place or the circumstances. We have been unable to locate a fort at Mallorysville, and cannot find that Mallorysville existed until after 1793. Have also been unable to find any other service that is attributed to Dempsey Hinton. If you have information which verifies the circumstances surrounding this event which places D.H. at a fort during the period after 19 Apr 1775, and before his death, please provide it." We gotta prove it, now. They will be more than happy to open this line for future applicant's IF we can prove our claim. We do have other recourse, too. We could prove Civil Service. This would include city or colonial government service; including duty as a juror. Does anyone have such documentation? We need help. Can anyone send some actual proofs? We need to reopen these lines. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Regarding: Jesse Norman's service DAR - and I am quoting, again: "The service attributed to Jesse Norman was that he served under Count Pulaski at the Siege of Savannah, GA., and the source for that information is the Wilkes Co., GA, Deed Book KK, 1793, No. 104. The citation is to a deed for appointment of Francis Baldwin to receive the pay and land due John Ross, a soldier from the U.S. or the state of NC, serving under Count Pulaski. Jesse Norman was one of two witnesses to the signature of John Ross. The document does not say that he, Jesse Norman, was a soldier. No other source of service has been identified in any paper filed on Jesse Norman. If you can provide information that proves Jesse Norman as either a soldier during the revolution or that shows he had either Civil or Patriotic Service, we will be pleased to reinstate him as a patriot." They want PROOF of patriotic service. We viewed the source documented in the 1930's application. It was by KNIGHT. Jesse Norman witnessed a 1793 document, he was not the patriot. The 1930's applicant misread the KNIGHT abstract in this book. Therefore, we are now required to send further proof to DAR to reopen this line, too. Please help us get this matter straightened out. Let's all work together to reinstate these two men. Any document in your possession that you believe will aid in this effort, please submit it. Someday, some of you, or your descendents may also wish to pursue application into DAR through these lines. We are all very proud of our heritage or we wouldn't be genealogical researchers. Please do what you can to help, now. Martha & Marilyn AMEN !

    1. Finley family
    2. My gr-gr-grandfather was John Middleton Finley. He was born in Georgia December 17, 1804. He died in Damascus, Scott County, Mississippi. A history of this family was given to me and it says there were several Finleys in Wilkes county during the Rev. War. This family was in Virginia, I think previously.. Then they were in S.C. and went to Georgia. Does anyone know of a Finley family in the Rev. War or anything?
