FYI, what I learned is that "Georgia Confederate Pensions funds were provided by the Georgia General Assembly to the Georgia Confederate Pension Office for distribution to the pensioners. The Georgia Archives holdings do include Georgia Confederate Pension payroll lists and rolls (occasionally these records include an exact date, most of the time it will give a quarter of the year the pensioner died) that are not available online." Happy Hunting -----Original Message----- From: Dow [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2014 6:23 PM To: Wayne County GA Genealogy ([email protected]) Subject: Confederate Pension Widow's Application My 2nd great grandmother filed a pension application in Wayne County Georgia dated Aug 1912 which has the annotation "Approved for 1913". What agency at that time would have made payments? Are there any records of payments; maybe at the State Archives? Thus far I've found no records of Amanda Melvina Long GRAHAM's death and my thought is that payment records may provide a clue. Thank you! Dow Columbia, SC

I have found where the Drawdy, Spell and Grantham families have intermarried but can't connect my Taylor's to them through marriage. I have found a record in Screven County where Thomas Grantham, George Drawdy, Clary Spell and William Spell (all of Wayne County) and members of my Taylor family owned 20 acres and they sold it to John C Freeman. The date of the record is December 31, 1849. I would appreciate any information. The Jesup Sentinel, Jesup GA March 14, 1912 Mr. J.M. Graham Dead (From Waynesville) After a long and lingering illness Mr. J.M. Graham passed to the great unknown leaving behind him a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Graham was an earnest Christian man and his loss will be deeply felt by the community in which he has been well known for twenty-three years. He was a member of the Baptist church having affiliated himself with this church when he was a young man. Having been an ardent believer, he willed an influence which will still be felt even though he is gone. Mr. Graham was born in Conway S.C. September 29th, 1837 and died Feb, 29th 1913. For two years he has been unable to work, and the last few weeks of his life he continued to get weaker finally passing away without a struggle. He leaves beside his wife, two sons Mr John Graham of Waycross and Mr. W.J. Graham of Waynesville and one daughter Miss Georgia Graham. We deeply sympathize with the bereaved members of the family.

My gg-grandparents were living with their son on Atkinson Road near Waynesville. He, James M. GRAHAM, died in 1912 and she, Amanda M., maybe in 1914. To date I have not been able to find their resting place. What funeral home(s) were in business between 1912 and 1920 in the area which may have handled the arrangements? Thx for any assistance in filling this gap! Dow. . . Columbia, SC

Am desperately searching for a picture of Harriet Moody Roberson. I have a really good one of her husband Joseph Roberson to share. Surely there's a picture of her still around somewhere. Most of her descendents were in Wayne Co.
