Hello all-- I am earching for information on parents of George A. IVEY, Sr. He died in 1917 and is buried in Westview Cemetery in Augusta GA (J. A. Connor plot). He was married to Elizabeth "Bessie" MILLS. She married a GOODWIN after his death. She is buried next to him. Also, in the same plot was Robert A. Mills, Sr., believed to be her father, and an Elizabeth, poss. her mother. There is no marriage record for George and Bessie in Richmond Co. I am wondering if his family was from Warren or Washington Co. as there are Ivy, Ivey's in these counties. His middle name was prob. Avery, as my grandfather was named George Avery Ivey. Believe George A. Ivey, Sr.'s mother was Mary Alice HOLSENBECK. I believe she was living with Mrs. J. A. Connor of Augusta GA in later years. The closest census record I can find is the 1870 Washington with Joseph Ivey 45 and wife, Mary A. 30 with children: Silas F. 14, Ruth I. 9, Robert 6, John G. 5, and Magnolia 2/12.
