I am new on the list and am trying to trace the ancestry of my maternal grandfather, David Sears WHITT. He was born on August 12, 1864 in Wytheville, Wythe Co., Virginia, and he died on October 14, 1936 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co., Alabama. He was a Methodist, and he was married to Annie L. SIKES (daughter of Samuel Isaac SIKES and Augusta Virginia BROOKS) about 1890. She was born on July 23, 1870 in the vicinity of Macon, Bibb Co., Georgia. She died on April 15, 1949 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co., Alabama. They had two daughters, Myra Virginia WHITT, born on November 8, 1898, and Nell Ross WHITT (my mother) was born in Sandersville on March 6, 1900. The Whitts moved from Sandersville to Montgomery, Alabama prior to 1915, and my mother, Nell Ross WHITT, stayed in Sandersville with Mr. Willis Evans' family until the end of the school year. If anyone has any information on his family to share, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you and best Wishes, David in Alabama ddorsey@mindspring.com Researching my DORSEY family lines - Allen, Brooks, Cole, Dorsey, Edwards, Evans, Lackey, Murden, Phillips, Sikes(Sykes), Smith, Thornton, Whitlow, Whitt; and my spouse's FAULK family lines - Blackmon, Clark, Faulk, Hines, Johnson, Martin, Sikes, Sims, Snellgrove.
