    3. Sorry, I have been offline for awhile -- now trying to play catch-up. I am descended from the SHURLINGs of Washington County, GA as well as about five other lines from there. I have an Alice SHURLING in my database b. 1888 d/o Henry Franklin SHURLING and Nan "Nannie" BRANTLEY. Is this your Alice? If so, I have lots of information that I would be willing to share. Just let me know in what format you would like it sent. If this is your Alice, we are cousins as I am also descended from James SHURLING and Lucy ADLER through their daughter, Susan Clark SHURLING (my g.g.grandmother). 3. Dolores, A quick update to earlier response to your query about Sandersville. In case the URL doesn't work, try the following: www.pollette.com/washington/washington.htm or go to www.rootsweb.com click on GA, then to Washington County. Should take you right there. Sorry if first response was incomplete. 3. Dolores: You can try the Washington County page at www.pollette.com/washington for history of Washington County and Sandersville. Sandersville is the county seat of Washington. Another source would be "Cotton to Kaolin, A History of Washington County, Georgia 1784 - 1989" published by the Washington County Historical Society, Inc. A copy costs $50.00 and although I don't have one, have seen it in the Genealogy library in the Orlando Public Library. It is a great source for people doing research in Washington County. 1. Elizabeth ? married to Terrell Brooks?
    2. Does anyone have an Elizabeth ? in their family, born in Washington County between 1800 and 1810 who married a Terrell Brooks, probably in the 1820's or early 1830's. They had four children at least: Nicey, James B., Mary J., and Joab, all born between 1832 and 1844. In 1840, the family was located in Stewart County. In 1850, they were located in Muscogee County. In 1860, only Terrell was listed in the census in Houston County. In 1865, the family was in Covington County, Alabama. In 1870, Terrell, Elizabeth, and James B. (my g-great-grandfather) moved to Texas. I believe Joab was killed in the Civil War unmarried. I don't know what became of Nicey and Mary. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Duston Brooks in Texas

    1. Re Thomas R. Mills (1797-1860+)need lookup to find date of death
    2. I do not at present have access to an 1870 census for Washington Co.,nor a cemetery book or death index. I need to find when when Thomas R. Mills died. He was born in 1797 and was still alive in 1860. The census listed him as 63 on that census. His wife had already died by 1850. He was the son of John and Mary Mills originally of NC. if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

    3. MECKLENBURG, VIRGINIA MARRIAGES, 1765-1810 Bordering North Carolina in southern Virginia, Mecklenburg County was formed in 1765. Compiled from "loose papers" in the county clerk's office, this database is a collection of marriage bonds from the county between 1765 and 1810. Researchers will find the names of both bride and groom, and date of marriage bond. Many records also reveal their place of residence. It provides the names of over 4,500 men and women. As the county kept no official record of marriages before 1850, these records represent the only government held data regarding planned marriages in the county. For researchers of early Virginia ancestors, this can be an extremely illuminating database. Bibliography: Nottingham, Stratton.
