DAVID KIMBREL A funeral service for Mr. ronald Chancey and his nephew, Mr. David Kimbrel, took place Saturday afternoon at the Patterson Assembly of God with the Rev. Larrie Deering officiating. Burial was in the Offerman Cemetery. The pallbearers were David King, Travis Odum, Toby Chancey, Roderick Spivey, Jay King, James Hoag, bubba Aldridge, Brandon Eason, and Richie Herrin. Harris, 86, died Saturday morning (2-2-02) at the Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after an extended illness. He was born in Berrien County Georgia, son of the late Samuel W. Harris and Eva Smith Harris. He had lived most of his life in Waycross where he retired in 1978 after 30 years of service from the SCL Railroad as a locomotive engineer. He attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He is survived by his wife Leona Stewart Harris of Waycross; one daughter and son-in-law Gail and Larry Batten of Blackshear; two sisters Faye Harris Johnson of Tallahassee, Fla, and Burma Harris Dyer of Alexander, Louisana; two grandchildren Leah and Cliff Batten both of Blackshear; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be three o'clock Monday afternoon (2-4-02) at the graveside in the Enigma Cemetery Enigma, Georgia. A native of Ware County, she was a daughter of Ezekial and Vinnie Mae Chesser and had made her home in Woodbine for several years. She was a member of Forest View Baptist Church in Woodbine and enjoyed singing and gospel songs. She is preceded in death by a son, Frank D. Kitchings, Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Ethel Miller Coon of Woodbine; two sons, Lamar Kitchings of Folkston and Inman Kitchings of Bristol; two step daughters, Rebie Waters Covington of Port Wentworth and Mildred Tilton of Savannah; two sisters, Maude Lilly of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Faye Snyder of Miami, Fla.; one brother, Ray Chesser of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Forest View Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 4, from the Forest View Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Rawls and the Rev. C. O. Sapp officiating. Interment followed in the Colesburg Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons served as casketbearers. Booth, 78, of Manor died Monday morning at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Ware County to the late W.A. Booth, and Fanny Dryden Booth, he has resided in Manor most of his life where he was a retired farmer and School Bus Driver for Ware County. Mr. Booth was preceded in death by his parents a grandson Kenneth Brandon Booth, two brothers Fulton Booth, Silas Booth, and a sister Agnes Pittman. McKinney Clifton W. Harris Wed., Feb. 6, 2002: Van D. Higginson, Jr. (2-4-2002) Boonville, Ind. native (Miles-Odum Funeral Home, Waycross) Posted on Feb 5, 2002 Van D. Higginson, Jr., 80, died Monday afternoon (2-4-02) at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Boonville, Ind., son of the late Van D. Higginson, Sr. and Mamie Wright Higginson. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the AirForce as a tech Sargeant. He was stationed at the Waycross Air Base at the end of the war where he met his first wife, Mary Kate Fender Higginson. They were married and lived for nearly fifty years in Waycross until Mary's death in November of 1994. He was employed in Waycross at McCann & Reid's for nearly thirty years. Many of those years he was parts manager of the international truck dealership. He also served as general manger of the Jenkins Enterprise International dealership Brunswick, Georgia and as factory dealer representative for the W. W. Williams, General Motors Distributorship in Savannah, Georgia. In his retirement years, he lovingly cared for the grounds of his beloved church facilities, Central Baptist Church where he served his church in many capacities. He was Co-Chairman of the properties committee for many different years. He served as a Deacon actively through out his life with his last term ending September 30, 2001. He loved his Lord and gladly spent his life in service to him. He was preceded in death by two brothers Glen and Ralph Higginson. He is survived by his wife Jenny Cooper Higginson who he married December 20, 1997 in Griffin, Georgia; One son Bill Higginson and his wife Maxine of Blackshear, Ga.; One step-son Davis Cooper and his wife Carol of Atlanta, Ga.two step-daughter Jennifer Kirschner and her husband Mike and Stephanie Music and her husband Michael all of Atlanta, Ga.; Three brothers Frank, Gene and Norman Higginson all of Boonville, Ind.; one sister Mary Lou Hart of Boonville, Ind.; two grandsons Will Higginson and his wife Delisa and Greg Higginson and his wife Susan all of Waycross; four great grandchildren Hannah, Sarah, Mary Katherine and Caroline Higginson all of Waycross; a number of nieces, nephews and other relstives. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon (2-7-02) at two o'clock at the Central Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery for family only Thursday afternoon. She was the salutatorian in her graduating class at Waycross-Ware Tech and served as a patient care technician at Baptist Village for a number of years. She was a member of the Kingdon Hall Jehovah's Witnesses. She was preceded in death by three sisters Louise Corley, Corrine Sellers, Hilda Davis and one brother Lester Strickland.
