    3. >From Waycross Journal-Herald: Monday, Feb. 18, 2002: John Beland "J.B." McQuaig, 83, (2-15-2002) Manor native (Miles-Odum Funeral Home, Waycross) Posted on Feb 17, 2002 John B. "J. B." McQuaig, 83, died Friday afternoon (2-15-02) at the Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. after an extended illness. He was a native of Manor, Georgia son of the late Donnie B. McQuaig and Ethel Beland McQuaig. He had lived most of his life in Waycross where he retired in 1992 as General Manager of the George Dempsey Ford. He was a member of the Waycross Masonic Lodge # 192 F & AM. and the Hasan Temple. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his step mother Abby Reid McQuaig, two brothers Charles McQuaig and Loren McQuaig and a sister Donnie Reid Douglas. He was a veteran of World Ware two where he served in the U. S. Army and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the Philippines Liberation Medal with one Bronze Star. Meritorious Unit Award and the World War Two Victory Medal. He is survived by his wife Doris Crews McQuaig of Waycross; three sons Norwood B. "Woody" McQuaig, Sr. and his wife Nellene of Waycross, Donnie J. McQuaig and his wife Emily of Blackshear, Ga. and Kenny McQuaig and his wife Gail of Waycross; two daughters Phyllis Hamilton and her husband Lenwood of Blackshear and Christine Hurst and her husband Marvin of Wayross; one sister Mrs. L. D. "Mildred" Griffin of Waycross and one brother Winston McQuaig and his wife Fredye of Columbus, Ga.; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchidlren, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning (2-19-02) at eleven o'clock at the Kettle Creek Church. Burial will be in the Victory Methodist Church Cemetery in Manor, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter Phyllis Hamilton, 1224 Lakeview Drive Blackshear and at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock Monday night. He was born and reared in Alma, Georgia son of the late James Hester and Georgia Dyal Hester and the widower of the late Myrtle Hamilton Hester. He had lived most of his life in Waycross and retired in 1973 from Wilbur James Tire and Battery as a salesperson. Since his retirement he operated produce stands for several years. He was preceded in death by a son Marston Hester. He is survived by five sons J. C. Hester and his wife Sarah of Summerfield, Fla.; James Tuck Hester, Mike Hester and his wife Lydia all of Waycross, Ga., Jerry Hester and his wife Stacey of Yulee, Fla. and Larry R. Hester of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine grandchildren Michael Hester, Michelle Hester, Christina Hester all of Waycross, Olivia Hester, Darlene Sprole of Yulee, Fla., David Kicklighter, Jr. of Douglas, Ga., Brenda Harris of Fernadina Beach, Fla. and Steve Hester of Keystone Heights, Fla.; eight Great Grandchildren, one Great Great Granddaughter, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon (2-19-02) at three o'clock in the chapel of the Miles-Odum Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. She was born and reared in Coffee County Georgia, daughter of the late Walter Taylor and Leola Jordan Taylor and the widow of the late Murray L. Starling. She had lived most of her life in Ware County. She is survived by three sons Murray G. Starling, Foy Walter Starling both of Waycross and Cary S. Starling and his wife Jerry of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter Debra Starling Sironen and her husband Jim of Waycross; a sister Zonie Lee Vaughn of Blackshear, Ga.; four grandchildren Macie Sironen, Ashley Sironen, Jim M.
