IVEY JACKSON CREWS FOLKSTON--Ivey Jackson Crews, 52, of Folkston, died Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2002) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, following a long illness. A native and lifelong resident of Charlton County, he was in law enforcement during most of his working life and served as chief of police for 12 years. His parents were Wilbur and Clara Cooper Crews. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Chassie Marie. He is survived by his wife, Shirley P. Crews, Folkston; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Crews of Nahunta; two sons, Jamie Jackson Crews of Nahunta and Terri Jonathan Crews of Folkston; three sisters, Judy Crews and Tammy Howard, both of Folkston, and Dinkie Byrd of Nahunta; and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends tonight at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, starting at 6 o'clock. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Winokur Baptist Church. The Rev. Monroe Gill and the Rev. Wayne Manning will officiate. The church service will be followed by burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Brantley County. Waycross Journal-Herald, Monday, Feb. 18, 2002: TOOMER WILLIAM HOWELL BLACKSHEAR--Mr. Toomer William Howell, 65, died suddently Sunday (Feb. 17, 2002) at his residence in Pierce County. He was a retired mechanic with the Swisher International cigar factory. He was born in Ware County but made his home in Pierce County most of his life. His parents were the late Arthur and Minnie Justice Howell. A daughter, Sue Hendrix, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Elwanda C. Howell, Blackshear, a daughter, Shirley Howell of Waycross; a son, Steven Howell of Blackshear; two grandchildren, Jessica Hendrix of Jacksonville, Fla. and Josh Howell of Blackshear; three sisters, Sarah Thornton, Minnie Lee Howell and Ima Jean Bailey (husband Jesse), all of Blackshear; three brothers, Dewey Howell (wife Annie) and Rufus Howell, both of Waycross, and Jack Howell (wife Vina) of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Smith Funeral Home in Blackshear. Burial will be in the Enon Cemetery. There will be visitation tonight from 7 until 9 o'clock at the funeral home. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002: TOOMER WILLIAM HOWELL A funeral service for Mr. Toomer William Howell took place Tuesday afternoon in the chapel at Smith Funeral Home in Blackshear with the Rev. Billy Davis officiating. Burial was in the Enon Cemetery. The pallbearers were Ricky Thornton, Waldo Thornton, Joe Shepherd, Brookie Thornton, Reavis Howell and Randy Tarpley.
