She is a native of Brantley County and has resided all her life in the Waycross area. She is retired as a cook from Baptist Village. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She is the daughter of the late John Melvin Howell and Leona Griffin Howell. She is preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Howell. She is survived by two daughters, Nadra Smith and Jeana Brown both of Waycross; five grandchildren, Brittany, Madison, Hunter, Devin and Jordan; two brothers, Alvin Howell and Bobby Howell both of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 12, 2002) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery. Strickland Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002: Hoyt Watson McDaniel, 81 (2-11-2002) Waresboro native (Miles-Odum Funeral Home, Waycross) Posted on Feb 12, 2002 Hoyt Watson McDaniel, 81, died Monday afternoon (2-11-02) at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Waresboro, Georgia, son of the late Dawson Hilton McDaniel and Clara Wilson McDaniel. He had lived most of his life in Ware County where he was a retired broker of medicinal herbs. He was a graduate of Florida Southern College with a degree in Accounting, a veteran of World War two where he served with the U. S. Army in the European Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Winona Park United Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Class, Waycross Masonic Lodge # 305 F & AM and the Hasan Temple. He is survived by his wife Ida Tatum McDaniel of Waycross; a son Walter H. McDaniel and his wife Beverly of Waycross; a daughter Karen Overstreet and her husband Luther of Tifton, Ga.; two brothers Derrell McDaniel of Waycross and Coeburn McDaniel of Nashville, Tenn.; three sisters Isadell Ward of Washington, D. C., Lorena Mangrum of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Marie Harris of Valley, Ala.; three grandchildren Allison McDaniel of Waycross, Jason and wife Hara and Lyndsae Overstreet all of Tifton, Ga.; a great grandchild Landon Overstreet; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon (2-13-02) at two o'clock at the Winona Park United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The Men's Bible Class of the church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers, they are requested to gather at the church at 1:45 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
