For what strange reason would someone steal a tombstone? I ran into my uncle Jerry as I was in Jacksonville yesterday, I asked questions about family history. He told me that my grandma Salis had a tombstone on her grave, but someone had took it. It wasn't old at all, she had died in 1980. My uncle feels it is because it was granite and someone wanted the granite. My grandfather Salis, buried next to her, still has his tombstone, he died in 1965. They want to put another marker there, but fear that the same thing would happen again. My question is, if there is a solution to this problem? Is there something that we could put out there with her name & dates without looking 'tacky'. It would be a shame to just leave the grave unmarked. I just found out that my great grandmother was buried there & what her name was also & my dads sister, they never had the money to put markers out there. They are all buried in Jacksonville. I appreciate any advice that someone could give & please forgive me for posting this to the list. I know that it has nothing to do with Ware County at all. Joy
