Have a mystery here and hope someone on list maybe able to help. My G Grandmother, Tobitha Dryden, DOB 9-28-1879 -m- David Jesse Lee. Looked for her everywhere, no one knew anything, she wasn't in Huxford. Back in Oct. Nov. of last year Keneth Allen from N. FL contacted me from Dryden Genforum. Told me that his G. Grandfather was Enoch Dryden, son of Archibald Miller Dryden, DOB 7-19-1829, and Archibald's 2nd wife, Elizabeth Joiner DOB 1850. He told me that Enoch's daughter, his grandmother, who is still alive told him that Tobitha Dryden, wife of David Jesse Miller of Waycross was her father's half sister. She further told him to tell me that she use to visit David Jesse & Tobitha at their home on "the Swamp Road" outside of Waycross when she was a child and that they raised hogs. (Have checked with last surviving Aunt in GA on this side of family and she confirms that they did indeed live on "The Swamp Road" and raise hogs) Now.......I'm thinking, ok, Tobitha is ch! ild of Archibald & 1st wife, Martha Underhill, however, Martha's year of birth said by Huxford to have been 1830, would have made her 49 when Tobitha was born, also this would have placed 14 years between Tobitha and Archibald & Martha's last known son, William DOB 1865, and there is that problem of Archibald having produced daughter Penny in 1879 with Elizabeth Joiner. (Archibald & Martha divorced in FL sometime after Civil War, Archibald returned to Ware Co., GA & married Elizabeth Joiner, I just don't know when) Now.......could Penny have been a twin & Tobitha was dropped from family record in Huxford, but then that would have made her Enoch's full sister, not half............Could there have been another Mrs. Archibald Dryden between Martha Underhill & Elizabeth Joiner?
