He was born in Pierce County the son of the late James Mathew Strickland, Sr. and Minnie Stewart Strickland. He had been making his home in Brantley County for the past thirty years. He retired in 1991 as a Carman with the CSX Railroad after forty-one years of service. He was a High Priest of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had served with the U. S. Marines. He is survived by his wife Jeraldine Mobley Strickland of Waycross; six daughters Angela Bryant and her husband Jim of St. Mary's, Georgia, Leslie Diane Williams and her husband Roman of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Stacey Bible and her husband Dennis, Glenda Nettles and her husband Mark all of Waycross, Shannon Callahan and her husband Tony of Blackshear, Ga., and Allison Strickland of Anaheim, Calif.; two sons Craig Strickland, Joe Cranford and his wife Janie all of Waycross; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; three sisters Ruth Outlaw of Lake Butler, Fla., Doris McAninch of Callahan, Fla. and June Ward of Lake Placid, Fla.; a former wife Ruth Kreis of Inverness, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Friday morning (3-22-02) at eleven o'clock at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The High Priest of the church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. They are requested to gather at the church at 10:30 Friday morning. The family will receive friends at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock Thursday night. Ethel C.
