Ann Kirkland ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted on Mar 26, 2002 Ann Kirkland, 56, died Sunday afternoon (3-24-02) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was a life long resident of Ware County, daughter of the late Moses Kirkland and Daine Ponsell Kirkland. She retired in 1996 as a Bookkeeper and Secretary at Memorial Drive School with thirty years of service and had served as a Volunteer at Yellowstone National Park for several years. She was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by a sister Carolyn Kirkland of Waycross; a brother Benny Kirkland of Rincon, Georgia; special family friends Mr. & Mrs. Paul Purcell and family. A memorial service will be held Thursday morning (3-28-02) in Lott Cemetery at eleven o’clock. The Retired teachers and staff and the teachers and staff of Memorial Drive School will serve as honorary pallbearers. They are requested to gather at Lott Cemetery at 10:45 Thursday morning. The family will receive friends at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home from six until eight o’clock Wednesday night and have requested that memorials be sent to the Southeast Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
