Just received my 2nd great grandfather, Banner Gunter's, death certificate in the mail the other day. I once thought that Banner's parents were James W. Gunter & Harriet Bagley. It lists Banner's parents as Jimmie Gunter & Hettie Guy. Jimmie, also known as James Richard Gunter, is the son of James W. Gunter & Elizabeth Bagley. I found out that Hettie (AKA Hester) is the daughter of William Guy & Bathsheba Thomas. Bathsheba Thomas is the daughter of Banner Thomas & Mary Mixon. So, this is where Banner Gunter gets his name Banner! Bathsheba also had a brother named Banner. Seems that the name Banner was kept well in that family. If anyone has any info about this family they would like to share, I would certainly appreciate it.
