Waycross Journal-Herald, Thursday, May 21, 1942: W. A. BOYD W. A. Boyd, age 57, life-long resident of Manor died at his home there early Wednesday (May 20, 1942) morning after a long illness. (He had a melonoma on his face.) Funeral services were held this morning at 10:30 o'clock at Camp Branch Church of God, near Manor. Rev. Joe C. Crews, of Cordele, H. M. Hare, of Manor and Dr. M. Cobb, of Waycross officiated. He is survived by his wife who was formerly Miss Ella White, two sons, Alvin A. Boyd (should be Alvin O. for Otto) and Oscar Boyd, both of Manor; three daughters, Mrs. Welsey* (should be Wesley, this is Lottie Boyd James) James, Miss Clara Ruth Boyd, of Manor; Mrs. L. W. Jones, (This should be L W James. This is Edna Evelyn Boyd James) of Jacksonville, Fla.; also three sisters (Rosa Boyd White; Emma Boyd Steedley; and Rockie Boyd Ferrell) and four brothers (Thomas M; Harley; Issac; and David Richard) and 9 grandchildren. The grandchildren were all grandsons: Robert Lamar Boyd; Charles Everett Boyd; Jack Dempsy Boyd; Jimmy Karl Boyd; Winton Lee Boyd; Terry Wayne Boyd; Arthur Lavaughn James; Howard Glenn James; Jerry Waddell James.) Pallbearers were Lonnie McQuaig, Bob M. Peagler, Ward Ray, W. Ammonds, L. L. Strickland; R. J. McQuaig. Interment was at Camp Camp* Branch Church of God. The W. L. Hinson and Company was in charge of arrangements.
