    3. Gail, Here is a sketch I put together a while back on John LEE. Thanks to those on this list who shared data on this family with me. I think most have the family names, but it helps me to do a year by year write up. Sharon 1750 - 1760 John Lee was born in North Carolina. 1775 - 1783 - John Lee entered the military during the Revolutionary War in the 2nd North Carolina Continental Line. Private John Lee enlisted 1777 in *(see note1 )Martin's Company for 3 years, deserted on 25 December, 1777, reenlisted in January, 1782 for the duration of the war. 178? - 179? - Married Elizabeth Stephens? in Wayne County, North Carolina where he was living at the time. 1790 - Son James Lee was born in North Carolina. 179? - Daughter Jincy Lee was born in North Carolina. 1797 - Son Lewis Lee was born in North Carolina. 1798 - John Lee purchased land in Bulloch County, Georgia. 1798 - 1800 - Daughter Elizabeth Lee was born in North Carolina? or Georgia? 1801 - Son George Lee was born in Georgia. 180? - Daughter Mary Ann Lee was born in Georgia. 1817 - John Lee is a member of Beard's Creek Baptist Church, Tattnall County, Georgia. 1817 - He is a delegate from his church to the Piedmont Baptist Association. 1818 - John Lee is a member of Purchase Church in Appling County, Georgia, located along the Satilla River. The church's name was changed in 1819 to Little Satilla Church. 1818 - John is a delegate from his church to the Piedmont Baptist Association. 1819 - John is a delegate from his church to the Piedmont Baptist Association. 1820 - John is a delegate from his church to the Piedmont Baptist Association. 1820 - One of the first settlers in Appling County, Georgia. Living there in the 1820 Census. 1823 - John is a delegate from his church to the Piedmont Baptist Association. 1824 - Ware County was formed from part of Appling, John Lee and Family were cut into Ware. 1827 - Drew land in the Land Lottery. He was living in Ware County at this time. 1830 - Living in the southern portion of Ware County at the time of the 1830 Census, along the Suwannee River. 1836 - 1838 - Died in Ware County, Georgia. Buried in Fargo, Clinch County, Georgia. 1839 - September 01, An ad for the sale of John Lee's cattle was placed in the paper the "Southern Recorder" of Milledgeville, Georgia by his son Lewis Lee.

    3. Yes I know I have all of this. I was working on all of this way back and then found out that my Cousin Mildred Ingram had done a book on this as well. Some of them had given my Grannie a copy and she let me copy her copy! I of course has been added to over the years........................... George Lee and Frances Corbitt were the parents of Martha Jane Lee my Grannie's Mother! There have been a lot of tails about this John Lee family..................some good some not so good, some down right lies on the internet! The Lee's of Billy's Island were not naked barefoot savages who could not speak any known language............................. BUT there was for a time a website that so stated as much. But thanks for your kindness and sharing with me! That's how we all learn...........................that's why the lists are so great.
