YES John Leroy Thrift born on Cow House Island on May 29, 1879. He was about 11 where his daddy Bob moved the family to Hickox then in Wayne Co. GA. His mother is listed on the page as Allie This John Leroy Thirft married Lucretia M. Johns b. Aug. 25, 1881 d. Nov. 22, 1936 daugher of Paul and Georgia Ann Smith Johns of Charlton Co. GA.....................This is Paul Columbus Johns! BTW Ok Then going back in time: Robert Thomas Thrift b. May 8, 1833 d. March 3, 1916 Who was a son of Carr William and Unity Thrift............................ Robert "Bob" Thrift was born in 1833 in Washington Co. GA he was the eldest son of Carr and Untiy Thrift. Bob was a small boy when he came with his parents to Ware Co. Settled on Cow House Lot #72 9th dist. {I am leaving out words and abbrivating as much as I can...................if you connect into this, I am sure Luther will not mind if his cousin makes copies of ONLY the pages that pertain to you and your line and he would love to get your input.............last I heard he gives tours of the Swamp on the Hwy 82 side at the park.............I think I have that right.............If NOT OLIVIA jump in here this is your bunch too} Ok back to what you guys need to know He lived on that lnad until middle age. He was known for his humor and Impromptu stories. Late 1850's Bob married Alice Vennie "Allie" Albritton b. May 6, 1841 d. Jan. 21, 1926 dau. of Henry W. and Amelia "Millie" Albritton. They had two kids: he was then called into the CSA enlisted Sept. 22, 1862 34th Batt. GA Vol. Cal. Co A. Hopkins Mounted Partisan Rangers Also in Co. C. Anderson's Batt. GA. Cal. after war Bob and Allie moved to Hickox, he then farmed, had sheep and cattle and hogs. They were buried in David Hickox Cemetery or New Hope! Kids: 1. Millie b. Jan. 18, 1860 m. George W. Carter 2. Carr William b. Nov. 25, 1861 m. Nancy Dowling 3. Sina "Sinie" b. May 14, 1866 m. David Hickox 4. Baloney "Lone" b. Aug. 16, 1869 m. Janie McBee 5. Wm. Mathew "Math" b. Feb. 29, 1870 m. Catherine Lee 6. Margaret b. 1875 d. at age 8 7. Russell Thomas "Russ" b. Jan. 22, 1876 m. Sallie Crews m. Ora Woodard Robinson 8. John Leroy b. May 29, 1879 m. Lucretia Johns 9. Thomas Hardy b. Jan. 24, 1882 m. Kizzie Jones See the earlier bio for the other man by this same name....................... But yes there were two of them but they were kin to each other down the line. What I really would love to know is this: Also in this same book. Robert "Bob" Thomas Thrift son of Carr William and Unity Thrift, His Daddy Carr had a Sister Martha Thrift of Washington Co. she was a twin.................................Ok she married a Mr. James Holland about 1829 who died in about 1838 or 1839? Martha and her siblings had moved to Tattnall Co. about 1838. So Holland must have died back in Washington Co. or right after the move to Tattnall Co. one. Martha then went on and Re-married to Jesse Jernigan in Tattnall Co. He was either a son or a Grandson of James and Jeannet Jerningan of Bulloch Co. Anyway Martha and Jesse then lived in Cobbtown. The first two or three children listed of her 10 total were the kids of this James Holland.....................had to be based on his date of death. 1. Nancy Ann b. Feb. 22, 1830 m. Alfred Sapp 2. Sarah "Sallie", "Sal" b. 1834 3. Mary no dates listed at all for her My COTHRAN has a HOLLAND line in it too! So ???????QUESTIONS???????? Who was James Holland? Where did he come from???? Who were his parents????? Does anyone on this list know? Hope this helps you guys with these two men. Oh and if anyone needs copies of pages I can make a copy of the title page and the pages that pertain to your research ONLY. But I would be most happy to do this for you so you can have documentation. Luther's book does contain Footnotes.................but it does not contain the sources. BUT I know Luther So he most likely has them he just did not quote them in the book is all. Instead he used his Footnotes to put in additional comments. However, using this you can find the documents I am quite sure. Right Olivia? Olivia, As in the Albrittons that some of them ended up down in Florida that I found.......................or is this a different bunch? How is the trail on "Yankee" David Hickox going, have you ever found anything else out about that yet? With kids getting married and having to add more surnames and work on all of that, I seem to go in circles at times.
