He was a native and a life long resident Waycross. The survivors include two sons; Adam Parr of Jesup, Keith Rowell of Jacksonville, one daughter ; Amanda Parr of Jesup, his mother; Bessie Smith Rowell of Waycross, father; Robert Rowell of Waycross, three sisters;Jeanette McCarthy husband Atley of Waycross, Rita Calvo of Fayetteville,NC., Mary Manning husband Joey of Mershon, three brothers; Allen Rowell wife Faye of Bickley, Jim Rowell, John Rowell both of Waycross, several nieces and nephews. A service is planned for 2:00 pm Thursday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Telmore Cemetery. Manson January 22, 1928 - December 23, 2001 Mrs. Odessa T. Manson, 73, died Sunday (December 23, 2001) morning in Satilla Care Center following a long illness. She was a native of Bacon County but had resided in Hilliard, Fla. for the past several years. She was daughter of the late Thomas W. Thomas and Nora Walker Thomas and was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Elaine Greene. The survivors include six daughters, Taressa Lairsey (husband Harry) of Brunswick, Nora Gale Staines (huband Larry) of Hilliard, Fla., Erica Martin (husband Jerry) of Blackshear, Connie Tyre of Brunswick, Cindy Rodriguez of Waycross, Betty Simpson of Logansport, Ind.; a son, James Richard Riddle (wife Mary) of Patterson; three sisters, Peggy Phillips of Taftsville, Conn., Vassie Waters of Alma, Wonnie Mathis of Jennings, Fla.; a brother, Jacob Storey of Newnan; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Music Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday at the funeral home from 2 until 3 o'clock. Mr. Roger Hickson, 52, incomplete Mr. Joseph E. McGarity, 64 (12-22-2001) Waycross native (Miles-Odum Funeral Home, Waycross) Joseph E. McGarity, 64, died at his residence in Fernandina Beach, Fla., Saturday morning (12-22-01) after an extended illness. He was a native of Waycross, Ga., son of the late Joseph Maynard McGarity. He had been making his home in Fernandina Beach since 1956 where he was an electrician with the Container Corporation retiring in Feb. of this year. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert McGarity and served with the U. S. Navy. He is survived by one daughter Virginia Barber of Blackshear, Ga; his mother Virginia Connor McGarity of Waycross, Ga. one sister Verda Frances Dyals of Waycross, Ga.; Several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Lee 67, of Waycross died Monday December 24, 2001 at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Waycross he was a retired diesel mechanic. He was a veteran of the Korean War and attended the University Blvd. Church of God where he was a member of the Sr. Adult Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents Pierce Lee and Esther Mae Young Lee, one brother Jimmy Lee, and a sister Mary Niehouse. He was a native of McRae but resided most of his life in Waycross. He was preceeded in death by his father, Allard Lamar Lewis and a brother, Mark Lewis. He was a construction worker. The survivors include his mother, Dottie Lewis of Waycross; two sisters, Sandy Mercer of Waycross and Vicki; a brother, Tony Lewis of Waycross; several nieces and nephews. Dukes, 90, died Tuesday (December 25, 2001) in the Satilla Regional Medical Center following a short illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. He was married to the late Alice Woodard Dukes and was the son of the late A. F. Dukes and Lilian Eva Whilden Dukes and was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey H. Dukes. He was a retired office manager, with twenty-eight years of service for the Georgia Natural Gas Company. He was lifelong member of the First Christain Church where he had served as an elder, a board member and Chairman of the Board. The survivors include two sons, James Dukes (wife Lu Ann) of Waycross and William W. Dukes of Winterville; a grandson Andy W. Dukes of Waycross. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday (December 28, 2001) at the Oakland Cemetery. Elders and Diaconates of First Christain Church are to serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Hickson has been living in Ware Co. for the past 20 years where he worked as an air conditioning repairman, and was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his father Clyde Max Hickson of Patterson, two brothers Sammy Hickson of Waycross, and Johnny Hickson of Waycross, and many other relatives.
