He is a native of Brooks County but has lived most of his life in Waycross. He was the manager at Engineering and Equipment Company. He served in the National Guard, for over 30 years, and during Desert Storm. He was the president of the Shrine Club and past master of the Masonic Lodge #305. He was also a member of the Waycross Exchange Club and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He served as a Civil War Reinactor with Company K 26 Georgia and the 4th Georgia Unit in Albany. He is the son of the late Wesley Thompson and Hilda Moore Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Kaye Thompson of Waycross; three sons, Keith Thompson of Waycross, Kenneth Thompson (wife Robin) of Chesapeake, VA, and Kirk Thompson (wife Nancy) of Waycross; daughter, Kristi Rines (husband Kenny) of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren, Candice, Cameron, Kyle, Kristen, Jeff, Kevin, and Cody Thompson, and Kaitlyn Rines; one great grandchild, Keegan; three brothers, James Thompson (wife Frances) of Piedmont, AL, Raymond Thompson (wife Dot) of Quitman, and Wayne Thompson (wife Barbara) of Dixie; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Waycross native and the son of a former City Manager of Waycross, he was born on August 24, 1916 to Henry Morrison Pafford, Sr. and Stella Clark. He was married on March 29, 1940 to Eleanor Lorean Mullis. They were married for 54 years until her death in 1995. Mr. Pafford was educated in the Ware County school system. He established a lifetime career when he developed a system for pumping sand from the Satilla River. He owned and operated Pafford Sand and Hauling Co. For 42 years until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Pafford was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and attended Central Baptist Church with his late wife. He was former member of the Dover Bluff Club. He is survived by a daughter, Harriett Pafford Dixon (husband Virgil) of Waycross; a son, Erin Waldo Pafford, Jr. of Atlanta; a sister Marian Pafford Ludlam of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Virgil Grady Dixon, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Harriett Lorean Dixon Walker (husband Jamie) of Atlanta, Leigh Pafford Dixon Gill of Offerman (husband Billy) of Offerman; three great grandchildren, Micah Walker of Atlanta, Trey and Tori Gill of Offerman; numerous nieces and nephews.
