    3. Just to help everyone understand more about how to locate and use WARE County (and any County within GA for that matter) Remember that we have "Sister" pages set-up. So if you are disappointed with one....then take a look at the other one. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/ware.htm ***Bookmark this page**** as it changes often. This is the GAGenWeb ARCHIVES page..... and this is the page that I am working hard with all of you who send me information.....this is our actual DATA page.... We're constantly updating this....but if you look at the names of the contributors, you may notice that just a few individuals are making contributions right now......so ALL of you need to be looking through your files and seeing what you can type up and share. A County Site depends on everyone working together sharing their information. Just type it up and send it to me: Virginia varcsix@hot.rr.com (Remember the copyright laws though!) WHY ARCHIVES PAGES are important: 1)Notice the Search Box on this page... you can select your specific county ....or select one specific Georgia county. This is a great advantage. If you are on the County page itself and do a search, it is only going to cover the contents of that specific county page. That gives the ARCHIVES page a distinct advantage, as many of our ancestors did "business" in the nearest county seat.... they may have been living in one county but actually were nearer to another county seat and might have gotten married, etc. there. 2)FORMAT is the same. When you visit an Archives page, you'll see that we have a standard format....which I think is pretty easy to follow. We have sections (Wills, Deeds, Obits)....and then in alphabetical order the names. 3)ALL FREE... COUNTY PAGE NOW....to the "sister" County Page. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the above page and you'll see a link directly to the County page. or go directly http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaware/ Scott Warren has graciously been doing the job as Web Master.... I personally don't pay much mind to the # of visits, as those counters often get stuck, but I will mention this to Scott. You are absolutely correct that the policy of USGenWeb for all of its County pages, is that everything be free. Rootsweb does give free web space for Genealogical Societies....and that is the place where all of the "for sale" materials for Ware County Genealogical Society should be. It should be a totally separate page than the GAGenWeb Ware County Page. This has long been a concern of the leadership in GAGenWeb, and it has been an ongoing discussion with Linda Angell. Tim Stowell, State Coordinator, is the leader for this aspect. You're absolutely right though that this page doesn't really contain very much actual information.... Ware County Researchers need to get busy sending in their contributions! 3) POSTING BOARDS These Boards have been revised....and I hope most of you are getting more comfortable with using them. I'll have to post again some tips.... Every message on the Board does come to the List. This is a wonderful set-up because many times people are coming to the Boards via Ancestry.com and are not aware of all the people on the Mailing Lists. I actually thought that the poster also received the reply to the message as well as it's coming to the Mailing List....but maybe I need to experiment with this. It never hurts though to CC the person. It takes more time though because the e-mails are "coded"...so you can't copy them. 4)MAILING LIST This is a wonderful place to share ideas, ask questions....talk about anything you're doing in Ware county Research. Now....any more questions....just ask. I'll be very happy to try my best to answer them...and I look forward to a wonderful 2002 and getting more and more free data on-line!
