By chance I surfed onto the Johns family site below while looking for information on the Florida 11th Inf, Co K, and thought some of you might want to see it. It's very nice. Trying to track down a Byrd grandfather. Ancestry gave me two choices for an S.J. Byrd. One was Sebeorn J. Byrd in the Florida 11th Inf. [Confederate] Another is Severn J. Byrd- Union [of course] . Light complexion, sandy eyes [that's what is says!] light hair, 5' 9.9''. Don't know if these will prove to be the same soldier yet or not, or even if one is mine. I find an SJ BYRD b. AL, on the 1880 Madison County, FL Census with a son that would possibly fit my great-grandfather William Frank Byrd. Listed as William F. Byrd, I have never found another one this 'close'. That is why I'm even looking for SJ Byrd. May turn out not to be "mine." One of the siblings there [1880 Madison] is named Seaborn W. Byrd, another brother is John E. Byrd and the mother is Elizabeth b. GA [her parents born SC]. This SJ's parents were said to be born in SC. Well, anyway...hope the following will help someone. sDw JOHNS Family: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~johns/njfrg/index.html How to get your own...Freepages At RootsWeb http://freepages.rootsweb.com/ Index to Family Feepages: http://freepages.rootsweb.com/directory/genealogy.html
