Hi All, My Aunt Betty sent me a photo of my grandfather Shelton Robinson. He was born January 15, 1895. He died 2 years before I was born. For a LONG time I had never seen a photo of him. About a year ago, I guess, Aunt Betty sent me two photos of him. I so longed to have a pix of him in uniform. He was in WWI. This isn't the full uniform I'd hoped for, but I am thrilled to have it. If anyone is interested in seeing it click below. Boy, comparing the photos I have of his oldest son, my Uncle Dwight Robinson, he really favored his father. Especially those of him at the age when he [Uncle Dwight] was in the Army. I love staring at the faces of these old photos, looking at the surroundings, well, I am sure rambling on, so will hush. Here's the link: http://www.geocities.com/shezzybug/sheltonrobinson1917.html Shelton's father was John Jefferson ROBINSON who was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. My Robinson's ended up in Columbia and later Suwannee County, Florida. I do not know yet their migration trail. That is to say, I don't know if like all the other lines I am researching, they spent time in Georgia, or moved directly into Florida. I have Georgia births for some of the children of the other families, but my Robinsons on the Census' are all listed born in NC, up until the first one listed born in Florida. My great-grandfather John Jefferson ROBINSON was married to Mildred Melissa LAMB. The daughter of Wade Hampton LAMB and Martha Elizabeth CLARK. sharon
Sharon, GranAnnie would be pleased that you chose Grannie Green for his background. LOL Good looking fellow huh? >Sharon, GranAnnie would be pleased that you chose Grannie Green for his background. LOL Good looking fellow huh? Olivia< Hey Olivia, Sure glad you have your mail fixed. You've been missed here at GAWARE. Glad you mentioned your GranAnnie, it reminded me that I came across some HICKOX, a couple at least, buried in Suwannee County, FL. If you want the names I'll look them up again [I have the 4 cemetery books from there] and post them. Yes, I think my Granddaddy was handsome too. I wish I could have known him. Sharon
Oh yes. I'd love to have them. Maybe someday I'll get going and do a home page too. I'd love for you to see GranAnnie. She had never had her hair cut until she came up here in her late 80's. It had to be cut because she was pulling it out. It was really white. Beautiful. I got a picture of Silas C. Johns, my great grandfather, before Christmas. I know how thrilled you are. I was surprised. He was a really nice looking fellow too.
