Man Who Stabbed Buddy Raulerson, Of Blackshear, Gets Long Jail Term BLACKSHEAR < A negotiated plea and sentencing in Pierce County Superior Court Tuesday resulted in a life prison sentence for a man accused of attacking a Blackshear man, said District Attorney Rick Currie. Jamie Lang Lewis, 34, entered a guilty plea Tuesday morning for the June 24, 2004 armed robbery, kidnapping and stabbing attack of William "Buddy" Raulerson, 80, of Blackshear, Currie said. Lawmen said the men were neighbors and that Lewis knocked on Raulerson's door to ask if he could use his washing machine. Once inside Raulerson's house, he stabbed and robbed him, leaving him for dead. But Raulerson crawled out onto his porch and fired a shotgun blast which alerted his neighbors, who called for help. Lewis was sentenced by Superior Court Chief Judge Stephen L. Jackson to life in prison on the armed robbery charge, 20 years on the aggravated battery charge, 20 years for kidnapping, 20 years for burglary and two 10-year terms for theft of a vehicle, each the maximum allowed by law, Currie said. "He was a particularly dangerous individual with a serious drug habit," said George E. Barnhill, chief assistant DA, who handled the prosecution of the case for the state. "He had been in prison six times prior to this happening," he said. "I feel sure if Mr. Raulerson had known Lewis's prior record or about his drug problem, he would have taken far more precautions before trying to help Lewis out. Hopefully, with this sentence, Jamie Lang Lewis will not present a threat to our community in the foreseeable future." "I would like to especially thank Special Agent Tom Crawford of the GBI and Detective Ramsey Bennett of the Pierce County Sheriff's Department for the time and effort they put into this case," said Barnhill. "This was one of the more serious crimes we have had in Pierce County over the last few years and without their efforts, we would not have been in this position we were to work out this plea. We had put a lot of work into this case and were prepared to try it. Lewis knew this. And he chose to enter the plea." >From the Desktop of Sue & Richard Marsh ==== GAWARE Mailing List ==== GAWARE Archives: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/GA/ware.html GAWARE GenWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaware/ ============================== Search the US Census Collection. Wanda, Again, Thank you so much! I would love to have the Miller information that you have. I have McQuaig information on Jimpsey Neil McQuaig back to Scotland, but I don't think I have anything on his brothers. Someone mentioned him having 2 brothers. I'm sorry but I don't recall their names. I should have looked before I wrote this email. I am going to your website now. This is just great to have more information! Joel, Your original post was to the list, which is why I replied to the list. But if you still have that email or if you check the archives of the list you will see that I removed the "received from" line and your initials at the end of the post. Those who replied calling you by name are those who also received your post to the list. My reply was sent because someone was made to feel that they shouldn't post so much to the list. I apologize to you for any hurt feelings. But I agree with you that we should now let this drop. All, "Gen Anxiety" Can we please let this string and subject line drop. I also agree that we need to be mindful of what we send and to change the subject lines. If you are new to sending email as some are; you can still click "reply" but the go up to the subject box, click in it, backspace to delete the subject line and put in your new one. Also when you reply can you please go thru the email you're replying to and clean it up a bit. Please delete the old GAWARE tag lines as each post will have new ones. Leave a few lines in to identify what you are replying to but delete the rest. Finally, I'm going down the coast for vacation tomorrow and Sharon, who has so extraordinarily managed this list in the past, has agreed to help for the week. Please! Please! Please! Let this be the last message on the subject, if not but to make her job easier. Thanks in advance for you help. Sincerly, Kati
Just my two cent's worth hoping not to beat a dead horse of offend anyone: Some of us have VERY slow Internet connections and it may take 20-30 seconds to download each message. If it is just a "Thank You" or a "Your Welcome" it seems to me that this type of message should go directly to the person rather than back to the list. This would help me a great deal. When you belong to multiple lists and get sometimes 50-70 or more messages a day, this can save a LOT of time. I can't tell you how valuable this and other lists are and no one should be discouraged from posting any information that could possibly be of help to someone else. Dick Hughes Hawthorne, FL

Joel, Please do stop now....this is getting very personal and can be hurtful to some. You are welcome to be on this list as everyone else is. However you percieve the list should work is a matter for you to take up with the list administrator and then the list administrator can "lambaste" the list membership if they feel it is appropriate. It is who they really were, what they liked to eat and read and wear and how they worked and when and for what and thank yous and I'm sorrys at times too! It the South....................................... Welcome to it! By the way, I am getting a bit sick of this subject line too! Yes please we'll take what ever you have we love to share too! Perhaps some of my kin will turn up in your Uncle's business records! Most of us love to cook NONE of us have ever posted that many reciepts before but hey there is always a first time! Go for it if you feel so inclined to do so. I want complain a bit. I was taught good manners myself. One more question, How much time and energy have you wasted complaining? How many of us want to hit the delete when we see your Medical condition repeated over and over again.................yet have we complained even ONCE? Sometimes we tend to dig our own holes!
