    3. Hi, Yes, that is the grave of John Lee RS that I saw. It has a flat DAR marker. Right next to his grave is the unmarked "space". I would love to KNOW who his father really is. 3. Sheila My first cousin has a family bible of details from Jessie Felder who was her grandfather, and Osgood who is my grandfather. The family record in the bible consistently states her as Susan Augusta Drury. Being she was born in Wayne County I guess I should look for her birth certificate. On the drury marrying mary rowell I can not find record of it I found it in Judge Huxfords volumes and have saw it posted also in family trees. I was just thinking maybe someone knew of it . Our family has never heard that from anywhere else. Also my first cousins mom is still alive and has always referred to Susan as Susa Augusta. Hope this helps. 3. Good evening everyone, I am new to the list and would like to post my interest in finding an obituary for the following: Elsie L. Barnes, died January 28, 1963, Ware County, 80 years old. Mrs. Barnes was born in England, came to the U.S. in 1886, and first lived in CT. I believe her maiden name was Wilkins. If anyone can access an obituary or provide any other information, I would really appreciate it. Many thanks, Elizabeth BC, Canada

    3. Gail, Yes, John Lee Esq. and John Lee RWS are two different men. I was looking at JL Esq. forthe father of the Mary Lee in the marriage bonds. Her birth date comes closer than any one I have found so far. I have never seen Leigh used for either of these two men. I have seen Leigh used for several of our ancestors during my searches though. I will look at the online site, Chronicles of The Scto/Irish, that you mentioned. Maybe we will be the ones to make a major breakthrough on this family..... dreaming aren't I ? If I do find further information I will pass it along. 3. John Lee Esq. and John Lee R.S. have to be two different men. John Lee R.S. had a daughrter named Mary Ann b. 1801 So this Mary would not be her................................ Is the John Lee Esq. always spelled as "Lee" or have you ever seen it as Leigh? The reason that I ask you this, is that in the Chron. of the Scot/Irish that is online there is a John Leigh mentioned several times in those old ct. 3. Barb, How did you find out that Susan's middle name was Augusta? I have it listed as Ann, but I could be mistaken. I am sending you the information on James A. (Lt. CSA) Rowell and his two wives and all of his children that I have found. It is my understanding through speaking with Rowell and Johns family members as well as my own research that Mary "Mollie" Rowell married Reginald Drury, who is the son of John Houston Drury and Clara Gertrude Fleming. John Houston Drury being the son of William Joshlyn Drury, who is brother to David Alexander Drury. David Alexander Drury being brother to Charles Nevel Drury, Jr., who is father of Susan Ann Drury in question. The other daughter of James A. Rowell and Susan Ann Drury was Martha "Mattie" Rowell, who married a Lucas or Louis Henderson. Let me know what you think. Sheila Descendants of James A CSA Lt. Rowell Generation No. 1 1. 3. In searching marriage records for Virginia I came across the Goochland County, VA - Early Marriage Bonds, Wm. and Mary Quarterly, V. 7, No. 3 with the following information: June 30, 1778. Robert Fushny, of Cumberland county, to Mary Lee, dau. of John Lee; sec., John Lee. My question is...could this be the daughter of John Lee Esq.? I show John Lee Esq. had a daugher...Mary b. 1743, however, I do not show a husband for her nor any children. Does anyone have any information on her? If you would be willing to share any information you have on this Mary Lee I will be very grateful. Gail, as for the burial records for Walter Washington Lee, I have somewhere in my files the name of the person who saw this information. I will keep looking and share this with you as soon as I can find it. If I remember correctly this person said that, on a return visit to the cemetery, the old tombstone (slab) was deteriorated and unreadable and someone had replaced it with a new headstone. That could be the one you have the picture of. I agree with you on documentation. When I was a "newbie" (and I still feel like one) I wasn't as vigilant on documentation...however...I now realize it's importance and try to document everything I can. I will usually say I don't have documentation if, indeed, I don't. I am happy to share what documentation I might have. Just keep me on the "straight and narrow" :-}} From one cousin to other cousins! Lorraine _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement? 3. Good Question, I too would love to see these old records that are shown as a source for this belief.................I don't argue, just have a "need to see for myself attitude" is all after all the years I have spent working on this now. I have learned over the years the hard way to check out "everything"........................so many don't show any documentation at all not even one documented source. I have no problem showing mine or suppling mine. I am working my little fingers to the bones doing input data on a daily basic on my own trees and work. A LOT of it I have in paper form, just not input into my system as yet. I mean a source can by anything at all: Old Cemetery records from a church Death Certs' Obits Birth records in any shape or form Bible records Toombstone photos Tax lists Wills Deeds Law Suits' marriage records Photos of the people in question. Ref. to a book listing the information as long as the book is Documented. And of course my favorite..............US Censuses {yes I know, they contain mistakes, but they also give up a lot of good data at times too} So much of genealogy went undocumented for so very long that I am finding now that a lot that was around say 100 years ago is now lost to us pehaps forever.......................... So in other words, this post is not meant to be hurtful in any way shape or form, I would just like to get a peek at what there is to see other than the Grave marker........................which I do have a copy of..................but it is not yet filed either so I have to dig it out again. But it's here somewhere??????? Ok found it again, It is a white military marker the white marble kind that the VA places for folks..............with the circle and cross at the top center Below it reads: John Lee North Carolina PVT Martin's Co. 2 NC REGT. Revolutionary War 1755 1840 Photo does not show a slab and if I recall correctly there was no slab to show, but the area has a marker around it........................ You know like boards were used to frame in the area and then cement was poured between the boards to form a square around the area..................or a very short wall so to speak like as in maybe 5" high. Then as it was found underneath trees' if is covered in leaves, we had to brush away leaves to take the shot of the toombstone! Does this sound like the same marker?
