    3. Sharon, These things are all from Brantley County. C J Broome was the father of Dean Broome. Dean wrote The History of Pierce County, and C J owned the Brantley County newspaper. I see several names that I knew. For example S F Memory. Stephen Foster Memory was the father of my friend Ann who now lives in Charlottesville, Va. O J Hickox was Oscar Jonathan Hickox and my mother's brother. Thanks for the memories. 3. Dear List Members, Let me preface these postings by saying, that I do not know the original source of any of these. Sometimes the place is named which might lead me to believe the article came from a newspaper in that town/city. I was sent these by a friend back in 1999, by way of e-mail. I will not post them all in one day. I know y'all get tired of seeing my name in your mailboxes. *G* Anyway, maybe we can glean something from this data. 1. [GAWARE] Re: Bounced Mail
    2. Thanks again, Sharon! I unsubscribed from excite a few weeks ago because of my email problems, but realized later that I was still receiving Gaware messages. It wasn't 'til last night that I found out I was getting them still. Sometimes I can get into excite mail, sometimes I cannot. I unsubscribed again from there last night. I didn't have tulipsmail that long and I started having alot of problems with them also. It freezes up my computer, bad. I had to unsubscribe from there also. I know what you mean about finding artifacts addicting. Funny thing is, doing the treasure hunting hobby is what led me to doing genealogy. I was doing some local history research at the library and to my delight I found my great grandmother, Pearl Aldridge Gunter listed in a book. I had to find more names, and I was hooked ever since!!!! I haven't found anything major with my metal detector yet, but in my back yard, I found a Packard 8 car emblem. My thought was to locate the relatives of the people who might have lived here in the 50's. It may have been a family car, and thought maybe they would like to have the emblem as a treasured memory. I haven't done so yet. But doing the metal detecting hobby, I won't be able to keep anything because I think maybe "The relatives" would like to have it. That is what genealogy has done to me. I often think that I would love to hold in my hand something that my ancestors have had once. I do more genealogy now than I do digging. Both are so much fun! Have a great day Sharon! Gotta go to work... Joy

    2. Thanks Sharon! Do you know if it was my email at metalmaniac@tulipsmail.net or if it was the one under joy_spencer1@excite.com ? I was thinking of eventually going back to excite mail (it has been under new management & down for a time) But if it is bouncing from excite, then I won't go. Thanks for tellin' me about the bounces. (by the way, my name metalmaniac has nothing to do with metal music, my hobby is to dig metal objects out of the dirt (like coins) Jus' so cha'll will know that I'm not a metal music headbanger) I get alot of questions about how did I get the nick name metalmaniac. Jus' wanna explain myself < blush>

    3. I have found children named in deeds. They can be very useful Especially deeds of gift. Also, perhaps there was a family Bible Record. Indian War pensions have named children. Homestead records also. Sharon Davis Sharon and Alex Davis Shady Acres Goat Farm Pine Mt. 2. How does one go about finding children of a particular family, besides the census records, especially before 1850? I've noticed at the Huxford Library, he has files on my Gunter, Bagley, & Aldridge line. On his notes, he did not list the sources. I don't know how he came about finding children of a couple in the late 1700's & early 1800's. I have thought about wills, but when I asked a Bagley researcher about Benjamin Bagley Sr's will, she said that Benjamin only listed David Bagley in his will. There were no other children listed. (Benjamin had alot of children.) Thanks for any help, (I need all of the help I could get on this one) :o) Joy Spencer

When you are replying to one of these messages, please cut and paste the original message with your reply. Nothing is more disheartening than to read someone's reply and not know what they're talking about :-) Anyone else notice this? Might just be me :-) Regards, Nancy E Parr

    3. For those interested in finding out more about the CCC Camps. I did a search on Google and found the following. Enjoy. If some of you find one with names of South Georgia Rosters, please post. Thanks to Nancy for her nice message. Hope we find something real good on your Granpa Nancy. Vickey is hoping to find out something about her uncle too. Volunteers, Wayman and Ann Wells, researched and compiled this listing of CCC camps and donated the complete set to the NACCCA library. This listing represents countless hours of very difficult work. http://www.cccalumni.org/states/index.html JAMES F.
