In the History Of Ware Co. Ga by Mrs. J. L. Walker ---on page 395 it says that Theresa Hargreaves was the daughter of Mr. Abraham Hargreaves who was descended from John Hargreaves, Hair's House, Colne, Lancaster, England. Abraham Hargreaves inherited $70,000 from his father. Capt. Cuyler Hilliard made two trips England in the interest of the Hargreaves legacy. Capt. Hiliard finally secured the $70,000 in gold left to Abraham Hargreaves and in a most careful way turned over the bag of gold to Abraham Hargreaves. This $70,000 reached Mr. Hargreaves during the troubled days of 1865, and many homes of his relatives were brightened by substantial gifts from him. Captain and Mrs. Hilliard are buried in the Kettle Creek Cemetery in Ware Co. Georgia. LINDA

Gary: Cathy is right about "Jenny"--Cuyler's wife was Theresa Hargraves b. Jan 25, 1832. The age is right. She did not have a sister named Helen that I found, neither did Cuyler, so can't help on the Helen.

Gary, let me give you what I have on these folks. Delilah Wilkinson, apparently not married to, but had several children by Thomas Hilliard who was married to Abilgail Bulloch. He and Delilah supposed had: Ellender Wilkinson b. 1829, who probably is the one listed as Ellen. Age would be 21 rather than 51. Samantha Wilkinson b. 1839, again age is right Jackson (James "Jack" ) Wilkinson b. 1844 Eliza J. Wilkinson b. 1846 Frances Wilkinson b. 1830 Martin Wilkinson b. 1841 who is listed as living with his brother Cuyler Walter Wilkinson Cuyler W. Hilliard b. 1825, the only one who carried the Hilliard name. The Cuyler Hilliard listed would be Delilah and Thomas' son who was b. 1825 I have no info on Jenny or Helen, but the 10 yr. old Martin Wilkinson would have been Cuyler's brother b. 1841. On Pg. 97B of the 1850 Ware Co. Census, there is a Charlton Wilkinson listed who is a brother of Delilah's. His wife was Vicey or Vicy. I do not have anything on the Charlotte listed. The only Charlotte Wilkinson I have would be a great niece of Delilah born 1852. Anyone that can fill in some of these gaps, I'd love to hear from you. Delilah has always been somewhat of a mystery! She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Lee Wilkinson and is buried at Kettle Creek Cemetery. Christopher, I am looking for a John Corbitt who was in St. Johns County, Fl in 1860 age 29 (I don't have the notes in front of me). He was a farmer and farming with him or for him was James Cone. James Cones' whole family was listed with him. My great grandmother as one of James Cone's children. She later , in 1864 married my great grandfather James Bennett. I think my James Bennett was connected to the Ware County Bennetts who later turned up in Clinch County, Ga. A James Bennett was in the family of Richard A. Bennett, no relationship given, but I have read that Richard A, had no sons. I also read that John Bennett had three "missing" sons who would be siblings of William C. Bennett who was also in Clinch and later in Volusia County where James Bennett and wife also settled. I'm probably confusing the issue but I also noticed in a Bennett gedcom that a Bennett married into the Corbits, Daniel Corbit, I believe. I have been trying to find John Corbit in the 1870 Florida census along with my Cones and Bennetts. Is there the remotest chance that this John Corbit is connected to your Corbits and would you know where he was in 1870. My main hope is that I can connect my James Bennett to the rest of the Bennetts as well. I think I have seen somewhere that you are also connected to the Bennetts If I haven't mudddied the waters too much I hope you might be able to help me. I think I noticed in the past that you are in New Jersey. So am I and it isn't easy learning what I need up here. I'm a Florida Cracker whose descendants were in Georgia before Florida.
