    3. Sharon, I can tell you that these are clippings from the Nahunta newspaper. I don't know the name of it. However, It was owned by Dean Broome's father. Dean Broome owned the Blackshear Times and wrote The History of Pierce County. 3. Sharon and List Members, I know there are strict copywrite laws concerning printing other's material. But we all could benefit soooo much from these articles. Maybe if you stated that you were not sure of the source at the beginning of each article shared on the list, this would show that you are sharing it and would print the source if you had a source. Just a suggestion. Anyone else have any ideas on how she could do this without possible legal ramifications? 2. Please, What are the articles I see some of you mention? (Clinch County news and names) Have I missed something? Christopher I remember going to Jekyll when there were signs for "White Only" and "Colored Only". Odd that you could stand within inches of each other side by side with the sign in between. And the Colored water tasted just like the White water from the fountains to me as a child with a curiosity. Hoboken and we have left I95 headed for Ware. A friend is driving and before I know it he is about to drive into a funeral procession. No! don't get into that! I screech. Why? Because we don't do that down here. Why, is it a law? I don't know, I just know that you don't get into a funeral procession and try to get around it the way we do in New Jersey and New York. Is this a law and on the books or what? Does anyone know? 3. Nancy, That's hysterical!!!!! I can see the deputy now. Gomer Pile for sure. My sister and I used to go to Valdosta all the time. We had several clients down there. Y'all still enjoying all those restuarants that popped up over night. I grew up in Saint Simons Island and Blackshear but live in Salisbury, North Carolina now. I know this isn't genealogy related but it was just too funny not to share. When we moved back to Valdosta from Columbia, SC last August, we hired two young men to help us unload the moving van. 3. >20 Harmen? McKennon 17? M GA [HIRAM Mansell NOT McKinnon< >surname is spelled McKinnon< Martha, You gave us a lot of wonderful information in your message. I only picked a couple. THIS is what we should be doing. Going over all these postings and adding our additions and corrections. Great! They had some creative ways of spelling on some of the Census for sure. On this particular one they use the McKennon spelling. Also, I do not find a MANSELL listed in the index at all...so you see how your post could help a lot of people. Your Hiram was listed as a McK(e)innon on this Census. Thank you very much. I hope some others will do the same. BTW, this was my very first attempt at transcribing...looking back now on page 105 after doing all the other pages and working on the 1840 now, I would probably have seen that this name was "Hiram". Thanks again, Sharon

We even tried to find it once but the water was too low and it was m-u-d-d-y as all get out so we didn't attempt to go down some of those trails :-) NancyP At 07:18 PM 1/8/02 -0500, you wrote: >There is a picture of Lem Griffis in the book "about --- "Old Okefenok". >This book was published in 1947--a mere 55 years ago.
