    1. [GAWARE] Abraham Hargreaves
    2. Hi All, Just two cents thrown in here. Often times especially in older documents son-in-laws would also be refered to as sons. I found this a lot with early Virginia records, especially. Is it possible that Abraham's wife was one of Cuyler's daughters? > ... Mr. Abraham Hargreaves who was descended from John Hargreaves, Hair's House, > Colne, Lancaster, England. Forwarded from another list: Do you have any additional information on the Hair's House, colne, Lancaster? ----- Original Message ----- >From <GAWARE-L@rootsweb.com> > > > In the History Of Ware Co. Ga USA by Mrs. J. L. Walker ---on page 395 it says that Theresa Hargreaves was the daughter of Mr. Abraham Hargreaves who was descended from John Hargreaves, Hair's House, Colne, Lancaster, England. Abraham Hargreaves inherited $70,000 from his father. Capt. Cuyler Hilliard made two trips England in the interest of the Hargreaves legacy. Capt. Hiliard finally secured the $70,000 in gold left to Abraham Hargreaves and in a most careful way turned over the bag of gold to Abraham Hargreaves. This $70,000 reached Mr. Hargreaves during the troubled days of 1865, and many homes of his relatives were brightened by substantial gifts from him. Captain and Mrs. Hilliard are buried in the Kettle Creek Cemetery in Ware Co. Georgia.

    1. Re: [GAWARE] Attn: Olivia, I need your Help out of NC?
    2. Gail Moore
    3. Olivia: I need a bit of help out of NC if possible. I need to find out who the parents of William Martin Sr. And I wonder if perhaps some records of history on this family may have been overlooked in NC long ago when the Martin book was first written by Jenny Martin Fagg my Cousin. According to her, "William Martin Sr. neither his birthplace of date of birth is known. But he was living in Brunswick Co. VA in May on the 11th of 1755 when his son Thomas Martin Sr. R.S. was born. He later moved to Chatham Co., NC and bought 260 acres on the Haw River for Sixty pounds on Nov. 6, 1784 from William Spurlin. William Martin, Sr. received a grant from the State of North Carolina on 23 Sept. 1785 for 314 acres on the Haw River in return for the sum of fifty shillings per hundred acres. William Martin, Sr. died before July 23, 1795 for on that date his sons, Thomas Martin, Sr. and William Martin, Jr., are given as his heirs when they sold the land he had received in the grant." above taken from "The Family History of Thomas Martin, Sr. A North Carolinian American Revolutionary Soldier" by Jenny Martin Fagg Now I have wonder for some time if perhaps some of these folks are not related to some of the people of the same surname found in Ware Co. GA at times. REASON: DICEY HENDERSON I do believe that there was more than one DICEY HENDERSON over the years. Question: WHICH DICEY HENDERSON was the mother of my Margaret Casey? Did or do some of the HENDERSON found living in Ware Co. GA later on go back to DICEY? And if so which ones? And Which DICEY? 3. Thanks, Keith, for this marvelous work... Keith Giddeon" <keith@giddeon.com> Hi all, I have just completed the informational pages for the Georgia Civil War Soldiers Index. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gagenweb/military/gsi/index.html ===================== I want to thank Virginia Crilley and Tim Stowell for lots of help and encouragement during the course of this project. Feel free to link to it from your county sites, special project sites, personal sites, etc. ===================== The Index is an alphabetical listing of most soldiers serving the state of Georgia during the War Between the States. In all, the list contains over 211,000 records, with more (approximately 10-20,000) to come in the next few months. I have received approximately 450 emails regarding this Index since it went online in late December. I have received many thanks from those who have found information on their ancestors. Along with many of these thanks, came offers to assist me in my genealogy research should the need arise. Please save your offers to help me personally. Instead of using your time to email me (unless you have a question not contained in the FAQ), please transcribe a deed, or a will. Anything you have lying around in your files. When you have it transcribed, send it to the county coordinator for that county, and/or the county file manager for the Archives. Let's get a much larger amount of free data online this year, than has been seen in all previous years. I hope the Index helps you in your research, I know it has mine. Sincerely, Keith Giddeon Virginia Crilley
