Pat, You might want to consider joining the Nettles group at Yahoo. I'm a member and do remember seeing some postings about this particular family. Go to www.groupsyahoo.com and then find the NettlesNews group. A very dear friend of mine, John Nettles of Rock Hill, SC, created the list for Nettles researchers but has since 'retired' from moderating the list. A younger fellow is now in charge of the list (with John the 'Old Coot' as he calls himself, still very much watching all the postings). They are a great bunch of researchers who just LOVE to share information :-) If that isn't the correct URL, just let me know and I'll hunt it down for you. I believe you would want to correspond with Imogene Nettles Smith as this is one of her ancestors. I don't have her email address in my address book but do have some data that she submitted to the NettlesNews list in 2001. Some of my Youmans married into the Nettles/Malphrus lines from the Hampton Co./Jasper Co, SC area and this is why I joined the list when John created it some time ago. .Regards, Nancy E Parr At 10:38 PM 2/20/02 -0600, you wrote: >William Nettles married Pollie. Just found out from my mother tonight that Rosa Lee Howell's mother was not Pearlie Mae as indicated in the Brantley County Cemetery Book. She knows that this is her step mother. George Washington Howell, Rosa's father, was married twice as far as I know. So I am assuming that Mollie Stone was Rosa's mother. Does anyone have any information on Mollie Stone? Does anyone have any information on George & Mollie's other child, Herman Howell, born 1924? My mother told me that she never heard of anyone mentioning a Herman before. Rosa Lee Howell married James Higginbotham. Rosa was born in 1922. Thank you, Joy
Have a mystery here and hope someone on list maybe able to help. My G Grandmother, Tobitha Dryden, DOB 9-28-1879 -m- David Jesse Lee. Looked for her everywhere, no one knew anything, she wasn't in Huxford. Back in Oct. Nov. of last year Keneth Allen from N. FL contacted me from Dryden Genforum. Told me that his G. Grandfather was Enoch Dryden, son of Archibald Miller Dryden, DOB 7-19-1829, and Archibald's 2nd wife, Elizabeth Joiner DOB 1850. He told me that Enoch's daughter, his grandmother, who is still alive told him that Tobitha Dryden, wife of David Jesse Miller of Waycross was her father's half sister. She further told him to tell me that she use to visit David Jesse & Tobitha at their home on "the Swamp Road" outside of Waycross when she was a child and that they raised hogs. (Have checked with last surviving Aunt in GA on this side of family and she confirms that they did indeed live on "The Swamp Road" and raise hogs) Now.......I'm thinking, ok, Tobitha is ch! ild of Archibald & 1st wife, Martha Underhill, however, Martha's year of birth said by Huxford to have been 1830, would have made her 49 when Tobitha was born, also this would have placed 14 years between Tobitha and Archibald & Martha's last known son, William DOB 1865, and there is that problem of Archibald having produced daughter Penny in 1879 with Elizabeth Joiner. (Archibald & Martha divorced in FL sometime after Civil War, Archibald returned to Ware Co., GA & married Elizabeth Joiner, I just don't know when) Now.......could Penny have been a twin & Tobitha was dropped from family record in Huxford, but then that would have made her Enoch's full sister, not half............Could there have been another Mrs. Archibald Dryden between Martha Underhill & Elizabeth Joiner? Any idea's???? Thanks, Lee G. Hall --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.320 / Virus Database: 179 - Release Date: 1/30/02
Has anyone heard of Geechee Auto Parts on US 1 in Waycross? My mother said that her father used to work there, 1940's-50's. They lived across the street from Geechee Parts in the 40's. James & Rosa Lee Higginbotham lived to their left and the Merrits lived next to them on the right. Scotty's Hardware Store, my mother believes is were Geechee Parts used to be. What I want to know is, Is Geechee the correct spelling of it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Joy
Hi Pat, On Silas Hilliard-go to website LaMartin.com and look under their Underhill file. Punch in Kyle Vanlandingham into Google and you should get a lot of his Hilliard/Underhill info. He probably knows as much about these families as anyone. I have seen where he says he's has researched them for over 30 years. I have a copy of Kyle's book "Florida Cousins-The Descendants of William H. Willingham" and lot's of Hilliard info if I could be of help. Silas was my GGG Grandfather. --

Hi List, I looking for someone to do some look ups in all the US census for DurranceDurrence. Index only for AK, AL and LA if available. Once I find the general area I can dig into actual documents of individual counties. Need the index research to dig deeper. I'm trying to trace Durrance by census documents. Big map with color push pins. I also have an unattached Durrance supposively running from the law out of Florida into Louisiana and now in Tennessee. Any all help would be appreciated. Of course, if you want to pass on info for FL and GA that would be great too. Mike
Hello to all! My name is Richard Pettys, Jr. I have recently been appointed the Regional Coordinator for the Coastal Georgia Region of the GAGenWeb Project. Ware County is one of the counties in the Coastal Georgia Region. For those who don't know, we have a great webpage on Ware County in the GAGenWeb Project which can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaware/. The Coastal Georgia Regional Page may be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gagenweb/coastal.html. We are in the process of drafting an extensive history of the Coastal Region of Georgia because it is so rich in history (Georgia's roots are in the Coastal Region where James Edward Oglethorpe established the colony of Georgia at Savannah on February 12, 1733). Please feel free to contact out County Coordinator, Sharon Wright or myself with any information or suggestions which you have that will make the Ware County Page a better page. Sharon's email is shadri@perry.gulfnet.com, and mine is rpettys@smyrnacable.net. I can not stress enough how open we both are to your comments about this page, as our goal is to provide you with the information you need to trace your roots. A second project with which I am involved is the Georgia Maps Project. The Georgia Maps Project is designed to show the changing faces of Georgia and her numerous counties over the past five hundred-plus years (did you know that many Spanish Missions were established in Georgia from about 1526 to the late 1600's and that Georgia was established as a border to protect the other colonies from the Spanish?). The Georgia Maps Project can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/georgia/. If anyone has old, rare and historical Georgia maps or copies of them, I would very much appreciate it if you could scan them and email a copy of the scan to me. Of course, it would be best to email them directly off the list so as to not clutter the email boxes of everyone else. Finally, we are always looking for two things. We are always looking for data to post for others like you to review and help them find their roots. And we are always looking for volunteers. If you don't have the time to serve as a County Coordinator, perhaps you have the time to transcribe a census or walk through a cemetery or transcribe records or to serve as a lookup volunteer. There are so many things that we can all do to help make the GAGenWeb Project a great and free resource for everyone to use, and it doesn't even require money! Should you ever have any questions, thoughts, comments or concerns, or, if you would like to help with either the GAGenWeb Project or the Georgia Maps Project, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Richard Pettys, Jr.

Patricia, Are you familiar with the work of Joseph Burval? He is the one who sent me the information I have on my Boatrights. This is so darn intriquing. I do know that he told me he was shocked to find so many Chesley John Daniel Boatrights....but I see you not only have that name but the name Benjamin Boatright as well! Could you tell me if this is the same BOATRIGHT family? The last couple listed are my gg-grandparents. So I am a direct descendant of this line...if it is correct.
