I am not related to the family at all, I am only a transcriber of records. But I am so very sorry to have caused you distress. I am sure that you have gotten his death certificate and his marriage certificate. Have you checked to see what name he used on the deeds to his property? Might also check the Commission Minutes to see which name is used on their records. What about the Confederate records from the Georgia Archives. Now you have a real mystery to solve. That is what makes genealogy so much "fun." The 1900 U.S. Census does show Daniel H. Bennett, head of household, born Feb 1843, with wife Emma S., born Aug 1851, Waresboro District, Ware County, GA. Also shows Charles A. Bennett next door... Born Sep 1877... Richard G. Bennett born Dec 1858... I have attached the copy from the newspaper & THE HISTORY OF WARE COUNTY. I may have to use another mail service as Yahoo gets prissy about size of attachements. If they are not satisfactory, send me your name & address & I will send a zerox copy to you. Switching to Knology. ===== ********************************************** BARBARA IS MY NAME AND GENEALOGY IS MY GAME... 3. Sharon, I think I may have something to clear up the mystery of whether Daniel's name is David Hopps. This is my direct line through my mother. Her grandfathers name was David Mitchell and he is the brother to Daniel Hopps . I don't know how the paper would print David Hopps but I wouldn't think that Richard would have two sons named David. I'll check the graveyard for Daniel next time I go down. Here is that line and if anyone has any additions or corrections, I would appreciate them. 3. Good Evening to you Joyce, and All, That is a good question. Maybe Barbara Walker Winge will have more info on this, since she is the one who submitted it. I suppose it could have been a misprint in the News Paper? I do have Bennett as one of my maternal lines, but only have one grandmother's name, Malinda/Melinda Bennett. Don't know anything about the Bennetts yet. I hope someone can post the answer to your question here on the list for us all. Thanks for calling this to our attention. First thing I did was go see if I typed it wrong...that is what I figured happened. Would not have been the first time. ;-) And I'm sure it won't be the last, that is why I want y'all to check behind me, and let me know. Sharon ======================================= Evening Sharon, Question. On the Ware Gen site, I noticed that there is an article on David Hopps Bennett. Isn't his correct name Daniel instead of David? Daniel is the way Huxford and Bennett researchers list him. Just wondering. 3. Dear List Members, Christopher has kindly shared some memories of Manor Georgia for us to enjoy on the Ware County GaGenWeb site. This first one is a Memoir from Childhood About a Trip to Mt. Olive http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaware/kith_and_kin.html I hope some others will see the potential here, to honor those who walked before us. It will also be a help to others researching in this area. Maybe we can not only "find" our ancestors, but get to know them a little as well. As someone said in the past, "Fleshing the bones." Sharon

    1. [GAWARE] Surnames and corrections [was: Changing email address]
    2. shadri
    3. >Yes Sharon , I'd like to Know that to ! mine is now wamm@attbi.com < Thanks Wanda. I did make the changes yesterday. I am fixin' to upload shortly. Seems someone cut a phoneline up the road, around Greenville, FL yesterday, so we were without long distance and internet until it was repaired. I thought there were a lot of CARTERS, but the DAVIS researchers are leading so far! We have a lot of folks with common surnames, seems there ought to be a continual discussion going on around here trying to sort them all out. Sharon

    1. Re: [GAWARE] TWO OLD TALES From Christopher from the GAWARE Archives
    2. Pat Gallahorn
    3. Yes, your first story. My Grandmother Pearl Thornton Bowen told me of something she called "Catty-Mounts" (unsure of spelling) when she was a small child growing up in Appling County. They sounded like a child screaming. I believe they are also called Florida Panthers. I was small when she told me the stories and I don't remember details, but I do remember how scary they were.
