GAWARE List Members, In keeping with my promise to keep you informed about the list status etc... We are presently at 121 Subscribers to this list. That is quite a few folks. Especially to be so darn quiet around here most of the time. Lee G. Hall made a perfect point in the message about William Dryden and Family. The reason part of that data was posted is because someone asked for it. If you had requested from me a year or however many months ago, I could not have given the information, because I didn't have the 1880 Census then. Many of us are adding to our resources as possible. But no one can help you if you don't say who and what you need. True, even if you do, we may not have it at the moment, BUT, we may on down the road....so from time to time you SHOULD be reposting your interests. A great big WELCOME to all our new members. Jump in any time you feel like it. We are all home folk around here. We love to hear and talk about genealogy and the history of the area. Feel free to share with us your interests. If you need help, please feel free to contact me at my e-dress below, I will sure do my best to try and help. Or point you in the right direction, where you might find it. Or I will be honest and say, "I don't know." <Very Big Grin> Sharon (Driver) Wright your list manager shadri@perry.gulfnet.com

http://www.domesdaybook.co.uk/ Shud you be of English descent, go to that link. The book is AKA as the Dooms Day book. Goes back about a thousand years. They are having a few problems at the site right now, but you can still get into 'Landowners.' I did find my forebears there, perhaps u can 2. cw
Thank you for this info. I had no idea of RM Whitehead's father or mothers name L J Smith
>I just sent her the link from my secret AOL identity. Richard< Still laughing Richard! A man of many hats huh? Thanks a bunch. Especially for Nell. Terrible when the one who gave the documents couldn't even see them. Sharon

Try sending it like this and having her copy and paste the link to her web address bar after the usual http://www. rootsweb.com/~gaware/harnage_ccc_cert_of_dis.html Another option is to have Nell use Netscape or IE outside of the AOL interface. Christopher, Help! ;-) Could you possibly send Nell < NLehtonen@aol.com >a link to the data she submitted on her father's CCC papers? I tried to no avail. She is on AOL and I don't know how else to type it. I tried the a href= thingy, but must not know the correct way, because it didn't work. She is getting page not found. I am asking you because I know you send your URLs this way sometimes. Thanks a million! Would you post it to the list as well in case others on AOL are having the same difficulty? Thanks Christopher! Thank you so very much for putting out this information. I have been scraping around for about 4 years trying to get information on Tobitha Dryden, she is my G Grandmother on my father's side. This is the first written record, other than her obituary, on which I have found her name. Also several weeks ago someone on the list put out her obituary as well as that of her husbands, David Jesse Lee. I had received information some time back giving Tobitha's year of birth as 1879. My head has been swimming for the longest trying to find out which of Archibald Dryden's wives were her mother. After looking at Tobitha's obit. for the 4 or 5 time in several weeks the dates finally jumped out at me. Tobitha, according to her obit was 77 years of age when she died in 1948, that would have made her year of birth 1871, not 1879!!! I can not thank all of you enough who have given so freely of the information you have concerning my family!!! Thanks so very much. Lee G. Sharon, I agree with everything you said. Christopher is the hero of the day for sharing his Precious Mem'ries event with us. I printed out the email and took it to my mother. She loved it. Christopher I don't think I have told you how much Mama looks forward to your posts. You please her very much with your memories of her Aunts. At 82 she hangs on every word and it really stirs her memories which she shares with me. Thank you so much for that. Every body may not know that mine and Christopher's grandmother's were sisters. The article "The First Physican in Georgia" posted last week was wonderful. My mother really enjoyed that too. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful, fun filled week to all. Friends and Cousins, Wow, Keep having to shut down for thunder-boomers to pass. Lord knows I am NOT complaining, I'm thankful. We need the rain. Hard to get some needed work done tho. Tis a beautiful Sunday afternoon in April. ADDITION: We have a new treat added to the Ware County GAGenWeb page, thanks to Nell Harnage. The discharge documents from the CCC camp 1401, of Nell's father, William Harnage. I transcribed them for those who cannot see the images. Virginia, you are welcome as always to place this data in the Archives. I like the fact we can link to the Archives and also store them on the county pages. A better chance of searchers to find the data. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaware/harnage_ccc_cert_of_dis.html NOTES: I agree with you Olivia, it is good to see CW's smiling face around again. And as usual he has an interesting topic. Hope someone knows what a "Fly Camp" was during this time period [1920s & 30s], will be fun to find out...Good to see your smiling face too Olivia, I was thinking of you earlier today and wondering if you had all that grueling tax work behind...glad to see you found a moment to speak. Christopher, I am thrilled for you getting the note from the great-granddaughter of the writer of "Precious Memories". and slightly envious too. <G> That is a beautiful old song. How very special! I'd print that out so it couldn't be lost or save to disk or something. Enjoyed completely Kati's sharing of the Southern History Museum! Christi's generous offer to do lookups! She is one that many refer to as a "Genealogy Angel". A reminder that you are EACH one not only welcome to post, but encouraged to do so. Don't make us beg. ;-) Jump in whenever you have a few moments to spare. Never know who might see your posting and answer you. Remember some are subscribed to the Digest mode of the list, so their mails are delayed, it will take them a little longer to get back to you. Don't get discouraged, just keep trying. A thank you to ALL who have been posting. Enjoy reading each and every one. Hope your generosity is returned many times over. Thanks for sharing and caring about each other. That was a lot of good data Pat shared, as usual. Thanks Pat. Those who post the OBITS...you are doing such a great service for so many. We all thank you! Don't mean to leave anyone out. Cannot possibly remember all who share on THIS list. You are each special. To those who are battling health problems..."we miss you". Hope you are feeling well enough to join in again soon. Sharon
Dear Listers, Imagine my surprise when I went to my guestbook on my web page and discovered an entry from Regina "Wright" West who is the great-granddaughter of John B F Wright who wrote the lyrics to Precious Memories. Her grandfather wrote the music to this song. The great-grandfather and the grandfather are buried together in Cisco, Texas she relates. She said she loved to see how many people love this particular song. I wanted to share this information with you. Christopher
